If Hunt was healthy...

Yes, 16-38, most were uncatchable worm burners that went for incompletions. Hunt has always tried to force things (see URI, that pass was not tipped that was picked). I don't buy that Hunt would have done much better, or honestly even as well.
It was tipped by the DE, I watched the replay. Hunt threw the pass and the DB was in front of the reciever so it is on Hunt. You are absolutely correct about Hunt forcing things. He doesn't have the patience or that touch on the ball that good QB's have. I think most of us would be excited about Mahoney, if Dungey wasn't on the team. The kid played a great game against a top 10 team. He will and should get a scholly next year.

Yeah, but what would the record be with Alin Edouard?

While I agree that Dungey is a better all-around QB, I'm a bit shocked that people really believe that Hunt would have done worse against LSU than Mahoney? Gutsy effort, but 16-38 for 154, even with 3 td's isn't some kind of game that is impossible for D1 QB's to match.

Agree. Everyone is so high on Mahoney after that game saying he played great. There are many reasons we were close in that game and I personally don't think Mahoney was a large factor in that. He made a few big plays which were awesome. Great story for the kid coming in against mighty LSU. But if it were not for all of LSU's penalties we would have been punting an awful lot. If Hunt had thrown half as many horrible passes short into the ground as Mahoney did he would have been berated. Everyones expectations for the game and for Mahoney's play were just so low they think he played good in comparison. He's much better than expected but I certainly hope we don't have to start him again.
