If Tenn, UNC and Kansas open

IIRC, UNC is trying to raise money for a new arena which could eat into their cash for coach salaries and NIL. KU has the most pressure, but some of the best resources in the country and following a legend is always tough. Tennessee doesn't have as many eyeballs on basketball due to football (which for a coach could be a pro or con), but they still have plenty of money.

I know we get this reputation, but they’re cheap and the politics are ridiculous. Roy still has a ton of influence.
Roy's influence is waning even faster now. Roy demanded to name his successor, and Roy swore that Hubert, with 0 coaching experience until Roy picked him, would be trained to become a great HC. Roy is revealed to be just another dreamer fool. I doubt Ray has any meaningful say.

Bama can and would out bid UNC for Oats. BIG football money is much bigger than anything even the bluest blood basketball can produce.

Historically I’d say UNC-Kansas-UT.

But with relative conference strength and fan support and nuttiness factored in I would pick UT-KU-UNC in that order.

Unc is kind of a mess right now

Tennessee could be a sleeping giant. Football is king, but there is a sense of entitlement that they should be good at everything and they have money.

I used to think the same, but Lawrence is a great college town and only an hour from Kansas City.
Lived in the KC area since 1998 and definitely agree. Lawrence is a fun place.

UNC is said to have a lot of baggage with it between getting along with donors and not getting to be straight basketball oriented as a head coach. You have to be readily available to anyone. Kansas is more closed door and strictly basketball focused from what I know. I’d take KU in a heartbeat as a candidate.
