If we beat UConn next weekend…

Yeah...and Lehigh held Holy Cross to half as many points as they scored on us.

All I'm saying is I hope the guys don't mark off UConn as a W as quickly as the fans are.
What the fans think and the players think are totally different things. As a fan I feel no obligation to take UConn seriously. Because they’re not good. The players should prepare for UConn as if they’re Oregon, of course.

UConn is good enough to beat us. Full stop.

Whether you think that says more about them or us, that’s up to you.

We’ll need to play well.
For sure. As the lead post in the thread said, Cuse hasn't had a season in which they didnt lose two straight in a season im 26 years. I'm sure a lot of those losses involved teams we *should* have and thought we'd beat.

Looking at the standings those BC and Stanford games

What could have been
BC should have been a blowout like that game in the Dome they humiliated us a few years back but we somehow made it close.

Stanford game even if we won showed we aren't ACC title or playoff contenders.

We made it to late November with 10 wins being possible as long as we don't lose to UConn and it's a great season. Thinking anything more than that was possible or realistic is insane.

We can’t take U Conn lightly but we can say that about anyone not named Wagner or Kent State or the like. Yes they played Duke and Wake close but they also had very close wins against a lot of awful teams. If we are focused we will win by 21 or so.

If we play as well as we did today we will put up 50 on Uconn. It's going to be a blow out
We got outscored what 18-6 in the second half? If we keep playing 30 minutes good and 30 minutes poorly anything can happen.

I know it was the first game of the season but can’t believe Maryland trashed U Conn like they did. Maryland is crap

The score in the 2nd half was misleading. I felt like we played pretty well.

That late TD being erased upon BS review was certainly part of it.

And we were in victory formation at the end, so there’s that.

Barron getting called for late hit - when he was already airborne whlle the QB had the ball -
was another call that made a massive difference.

Cal had that one really long run, that led to their last TD.
That was the only glaring mistake the D made in the 2nd half.

We definitely went to the “JAB slide rule” in the 4th Q to run clock and hold onto enough of a lead to win.

I didn’t say “easy”. If we play well we’ll thump them. If we don’t, we won’t. But people shouldn’t pretend that UConn is some sleeping power. They’re not very good. They don’t beat good teams.
True. Last week everyone was treating Cal like they were Alabama. Connecticuts only strength is outside zone rushing. (Which unfortunately is our weakness). But it doesn’t matter, I see this is as a 42-17 type game.

It will be the first time since McNabb’s senior season in 1998 that we do not lose consecutive regular season games in a season.
I was looking for the gameday post lol

in their three P4 games they ran the ball well against Duke, ran it horribly against Wake and not good against Maryland, though that game got out of hand and they had to pass a lot. Again, anyone is a threat but context is needed. They have two wins against lousy teams who have since fired their coach, a win against an inept UAB with a jackass head coach who will probably be fired in two weeks. They have two close losses on their resume, one to a solid Duke and one to a pretty crappy Wake. We stay focused we win and cover

This is the quintessential trap game. Would be very Syracuse to lose this game. Let’s hope Fran doesn’t let that happen.
