Really? When do you want to run it...on 3rd and 6? Or do you think we don't run it on fist down enough?
In regards to your comment after first down incompletions, with McCord there was not that many incompletions on first down. This season there has been more incompletions if they pass on first. But I would guess there has been a much higher percentage of plays than you think, where we may have gotten an incomplete on first and then passed again on second down as Nixon knows he has to after that.
The issues is we are not good at rushing and don't get many yards when we do it. Which means you can run on first down. You can run on second if you got 4 or more yards on first, which is not all that often when running the ball. On 3rd down we can run if we have 3 or less to go, and you still may have to go for it on 4th. You can throw a very occasional exception in there but that is about it. And you can't always run in those situations as that is too predictable. And then you get people saying Willis needs to get more carries. I don't think we should be running the ball that often if not efficient. But if you say he needs to get a higher percentage of the share than he is getting in comparison to the share Nixon is getting, i would say i agree a little bit. But Nixon is a bit better option in situations where its not a likely run, which is a large percentage of the plays, as we are not an efficient offense right now.
Our OL is big but not athletic, in general. There is no explosion happening. If you take Willis's numbers and subtract out his single longest run from each game, he is averaging 3.08 per carry. Even Rickie is averaging 6.3 yds/attempt passing. You can't sustain drives when rushing 3.08 yds per typical run. Hence why Nixon is passing it more often. Now i agree we could probably scheme the run game a little bit better, but from what I see, the OL is more of the problem.
