I was crushed walking out of the Dome this afternoon - really crushed.
We should have won the game by more than 20 points.
And a loss is a loss.
But upon further review, I am very proud of this group of athletes. They could have given up and gotten blown out. Instead, they hung and fought back.
I choose now to take away the guts the team showed and the following: (1) the new offense - love it; (2) the number of players who played today - amazing how many combinations on the DL, LB and secondary; (3) love Ryan Nortan - if we had had him last year we win two more games at least; (4) love Broyld; (5) love Sean Hickey - great feet, balance and agility; (6) really pleased that Rob Trudo played on the OL today; (7) Fisher punted well; (8) I really like the way Christopher Clark runs and catches the ball; (9) really looking forward to watching Eskeridge develope and (10) gotta say it again - this team showed guts against a solid Big Ten team that has been improving for the last ten years.
So, it was a crushing loss - no doubt. Stupid, stupid mistakes that made me crazy.
But, the program took a giant step forward today and that's what I will remember.
