Not for me. Maybe because I'm older and remember how useless they were for over a 20 years before Calhoun. And if that is true, why oh why, did no one want them in the realignment? I know football is king but those 4 should have meant something, no?
You answered your own question. Absolutely not! As you stated, football is king and 100% drives the bus relative to TV markets/expansion/realignment, etc., and will continue to do so in the future, whatever that may end up looking like.
That being the case, their 4 national titles is irrelevant relative to same. You know this as expansion, realignment, etc. was debated here ad nauseam...see Rutgers.
And, you're not much older than I. I recall the Dom Perno years and how bad UConn was. I also remember early on in Jim Calhoun's tenure showing signs of good/great things to come for UConn. I was in the Dome (Section 123 near half court half way up) Calhoun's 2nd year when Buffalo's own Cliff Robinson came into the building his junior year (January of '88) and beat us 51-50. We were Top 10 at the time.
