i don't like the offense much, i hate the trick plays but whatever beggars can't be choosers

for once, we recruited someone out of high school who actually threw passes in high school instead of being preoccupied with guys who threw 3 passes a game for some big dumb NYP league lug.

lo and behold, we actually found a guy who can hit a moving target more than one year in front of him

beggars can't be choosers, expressback the out us, whatever.

Not quite the "you were right, TheCusian" I was hoping for - but there's time yet.

I kid, I kid. I think everyone here wants the same thing: exciting offense, wins, and points.

You might find, when Lester gets all the tools he wants for his offense, it might be what you've wanted all along. More time for Strickland, find a way to get big targets like Custis, and Enoicy involved, who knows, by the end of the year, we could be explosive on offense.

Team Lester sounds like Penn State fan's trying to get their statue back. Perhaps we should rename it at which point I'm on board with team TL. OCTL >>>>> OCMcEFFit

I like the way he found Dungey, too. Asked White to bring up the top 150 rated QB's left out there (uncommitted, I presume) and watched film on all of them. So White used one of the recruiting sites and blasted out the top 150 candidates. I guess that is a wide enough net to overcome the ratings pitfalls.

it's a way smarter approach than spending 10 years tossing the salad of some NJ gym teacher who's thrown 10 times in those ten years hoping that he'll send one your way.

everyone wants to think offense is cyclical but this stuff is settled, they've figured out how to have it all on offense, many receivers, power running, option, you name it. 15-20 years ago, there was room for the innovators. SIGH but now everyone has learned the lessons. maybe lester is installing urban meyers offense without having to learn it from the horse's mouth.

We need to be a little more aggression from Lester against the better teams. We don't need to chuck it 30 times but a little more first down passing has to be mixed in from Lester.
I am more impressed with Dungey's poise for a true freshman. Obviously he can expect more blitzes for these power teams. I said this yesterday I thought Dungey reminded me of Nick Foles.

You look at this kid's body and you can tell he's not a developmental guy. He just looks like a seasoned college player. Compare him to A.J. Long. Would be interesting to know how much input Lester had in Long's recruitment.

You just like Dungey for his punting skills.

How do you feel after reading this:

I like the Dungey offense. A run on 3rd and 10 likely causes a punt and its 20-17. I liked the rollout from Dungey and great pass to Moore. I thought we called a lot of runs after the first quarter and hopefully we see more balance from Lester.

I get being somewhat conservative but we need the coaches to be a little more aggressive as the season progresses.

I liked the touch on the pass to Moore. Also, on the later one to McFarlane.

That was our only 3rd down conversion in the game!

I say let the kid channel his inner Peyton Manning and just audible/make sheit up as he goes.

And without it, the TD to Steve never happens!

Are you completely against every trick play all the time?

Curious your thoughts. Obviously trick play is a broad phrase, but what about simple reverses now and then?

Yeah - but if he had understood the call and coverage in the first half we'd have had a Ishmeal TD on that same route.

Mistakes happen. Freelancing is cool. But he needs to understand what's happening first. (And for the record, I bet he will very soon). Make the right call. Read the defense. That's how he becomes an assassin, re:Nassib. Then throw in some crazy Manziel/McNabb freelancing.

i hate reverses (what most people call double reverses). I don't like slow looping end arounds when a jet sweep could work just as well. I hate when anyone other than the quarterback throws the ball. if an offense had a running back who really knew how to make decisions and make the right pass, i'm ok with it but if you have that guy, it shouldn't be a trick, it should be a regular part of your offense.

when they fail (and when they fail they fail spectacularly), i think they're very demoralizing to your offense.

i don't know where any data is on this, it's just my gut feeling

What about Boise state against Oklahoma?

Or is that more "time and place"?
