I think it's time to kick this up a notch.
You sir, are very good at your craft. Talkin' about you!
Now you might not ever win a Grammy. Probably not a Tony.

Otherwise, you got this brother.

Homophobe
I'm a homophobe because I encouraged you to go to a state that just legalized gay marriage and join together in holy matrimony?

Your logic is confusing. Mr. Spock would be most disappointed.

They have the projected starting line at

G: Tyler Ennis
G: Trevor Cooney
: Tyler Roberson
: C.J. Fair
: Rakeem Christmas

At the end the two columnists(John Gasaway, Adam Finkelstein) pretty much agree that SU will be a perennial top 15 team, and get around a 4 seed for the NCAA tourny.

ESPN Insiders are clowns. They have no clue about the program. The trash that actually gets posted on the basketball and football blogs are so uninformed it's embarrassing

Rak starting at and getting any significant time at the 5 will not bode well for us. It's time he gets back to PF, the position he was recruited and intended for. I see great things coming from DC and his game (and energy) will fuel this team.

Starting lineup really should be-

PG) Ennis
SG) Cooney
SF) Fair
PF) Christmas
C) Coleman

Remember, our starters don't always get the lion’s share of minutes. I see plenty of time for Keita, Grant and Mike G. Roberson will see few minutes in-conference and none in the Tourney. That's not a knock on him but a testament to who he's behind.

we tried this last year, it didn't work. he won't go back to that.

Ennis
Silent G
CJ
Grant
Rak

Buss/Cooney
Roberson
DC/BMK

Patterson will get more pt then people think.

This may be the best problem to have...tough putting prediction together because there's so much talent. Probably forgetting someone. Patterson and Roberson will have a bigger impact than most think.

Starters (Backups)
1: Ennis (Patterson, Gbinije)
2: Cooney (Gbinije, Patterson, Johnson)
3: Fair (Roberson, Johnson)
4: Grant (Christmas, Roberson)
5: Coleman (BMK, Christmas)

Obokoh redshirts.

Roberson's the Beast and all...

But theres no way he gets starter PT or even 6th man PT with Grant as his competition.

Grant was the under the radar recruit of '12. This kids very aggressive and really really wowed me with his maturity.

Fair will be the clear scorer and go to guy...but I wouldn't be surprised (after watching his aggressiveness) if Grant moves into a leadership role as early as his sophomore year.

Ah, but he will. Just look at why it didn't work last year. DC wasn't ready, plain and simple. And, even so, JB stuck with his agenda of starting Rak at the 4 and Coleman at the 5 until the beginning of February and Coleman’s injury. It was nice to have Christmas available for big minutes at center but he was still only our second best center behind Keita. I wouldn't think for a second that JB will abandon his plan to have Rak play the 4 and to now decide it’s better to keep feeding him minutes in the middle. If he did that, what would he do with Coleman? Just put him on the shelf? Or, put his senior Keita into strictly a reserve/emergency roll? No way. I have to admit that my thoughts of Coleman playing big minutes next year are contingent upon him stepping up big from his freshman year but the position he will play and who he will be sharing minutes with is absolutely not in question. Actually, I'd be more worried if I were Rak. He played out of necessity this past year. If Coleman does make the leap into his sophomore year, as I completely anticipate he will, it’ll be Grant stealing minutes away from Christmas. Rak needs to improve as much if not more than Coleman if he wants to avoid being the odd man out. He’ll keep getting the start (at the 4) but the real question is… will he get the hook?

i think tee would like a post depicting puppy shaving...not that there's anything wrong with that (the liking or the shaving)

Is 'Bees real name John G or Finkelstein? I'm going to guess Finkelstein.

I'm willing to make any bet with anyone that those 5 above will not be our starting lineup in game 1 (barring injuries).

My starting lineup:

PG - Ennis
2G - Mike G
PF - Jerami
SF - CJ
C - DC2 - if DC2 doesn't improve enough to (legit) start we will be having another year as a donut hole team

Please Jimmy - no more cameo starters - let the guys who earn it be the starters.

I think those will be the people with the majority of the minutes (at least I am hoping in DC2s case).

I like the cameo starter. I can see it happening with Rak at pf. It would help create more PT when you have 3 good centers. Then JB can freely adjust at the first TV timeout depending on how the game is going. The only downside is it would take some minutes from Roberson. But Roberson as a frosh needs to earn his stripes.

I think we should be brainstorming Cooney subbing in at PG and Dajuan off the bench for important reasons.
We need a offensive backline threat off the bench Roberson and Keita are not that Grant and Xmas we don't know yet. Those are facts not opinions.
Moving Gbinije to a backup pg role while pulling dajuan out of the lineup would take scoring out of center and isolation out of sg.

Dajuan subbing off the bench will give us that post scoring threat. Hes also not likely to play more then 25 mpg on conditioning as it is. This also opens up the possibility of Cooney at PG more. With Dajuan playing with Cooney off the bench Gbinije can look to pass inside more and Dajuans outlet passes will be to Cooney a guy who JB will look to shoot 3's more then Ennis.

Cooney favored the right side(PG's side in SU's system) last year, not so sure on Gbinije. This will make it tough to read who is pg if Cooney plays the right alot this year with Gbinije on the left.
We also want Gbinije to enjoy alot of shots. Let Cooney's shooting be based on his shooting percentages and icewater in his veins. I think we will see more of Fair up top this year and that will open up Gbinije's in the corners and his PG skills.

My starting lineup
Point- Ennis
SG- Gbinije
SF- Fair
PF- Rak
Center Dajuan.

Why Gbinije over Cooney???
Gbinije has to much dribble drive, pg skills, and personallity not to start (especially with his speed). He will give us a second pg early on with ennis, and JB is really high on his jumpshot. I think we will find hes more of a long jumper then a high jumper keeping him out of the backline for more then 5 minutes. Also Cooney brings just enough dribble drive off the bench to be a 6th man.

Watch out for senior Keita hes growing into a adult role. I think he could average 4-5 more ppg this year with a Pro vs College mentality. On the other side of the spectrum Ron could be more ready then we think and BJ's ability to shoot the open long ball with mental toughness could get him a few real minutes in the ACC.

Agreed, I'll take that in a heartbeat if Roberson really is good enough to start over Grant. I'd almost prefer that, because then you have an experienced super sub at the 3/4 that we've grown accustomed to in our best years recently (CJ as a soph, KJ as a soph) to give us a spark off the bench in the frontcourt.
No chance, no way. even if he were better, Grant would get the start.

A few reasons why Mike G over Cooney:

1. Much more length at the top of the Zone

2. Mike is a much better athlete than Trevor - he should be able to score both by slashing and (hopefully) with enough of a J to keep em honest. He will run the floor much better than TC.

3. He should rebound better

4. Frankly, I was huge on Trevor going into last season, but he was a big disappointment with his play. I have re-evaluated my opinion of Trevor & now I see him as a rotation guy rather than as a potential starter. Hope to be wrong on this take, but I don't think so. I also think Buss is a dark horse in this situation & I would be far from shocked if he moves ahead of Trevor in the pecking order.
