I wasn't a Zappa freak like some, but he was amazing. "Discreet" was phenomenal, start to finish.
Saw him at the State Fair in I'm guessing 1985 (?). The Midway lights behind the stage were a perfect backdrop for the surreality that was FZ.
First time I saw Leon Redbone on SNL I cracked up because I thought it was Zappa doing a spoof.

SNL used to be so much more adventurous with their musical guests. Thanks for posting this, I've never seen it before. Were Leon and Frank ever seen together? Hmmm. This might be an Andy Kaufman/Tony Clifton type of situation.
