In my opinion, I do not want the court moved for duke

I just wish people would give it a chance before they dismiss it completely. Just have some faith and if this becomes a disaster I will be the first one to criticize and say no more and I am sure the AD office would do something to alleviate if it came to that.
Sorry, you don't get to support it as a good idea and then also criticize it once when it bocomes a disaster. Pick a side.

Exactly. Every word.

Also-- at risk of getting jumped on-- in the long run, why is breaking a new attendance record such a big deal? The game is important both from a conference and media standpoint, and nationally it would be the game of the weekend, but once it's over, it's over, and the only thing remaining will be a tshirt and a conference W-L in the books. What good is a gimmicky measure of fan fervor if its artificial?

I agree, the attendance record itself is probably not that big a deal (we're already at the top). But I do think that 45,000 to 50,000 would make for a nice visual that could bring more attention to the program. I'm usually for trying new things. But as others have pointed out, this could adversly affect some of the biggest contributors to the program for a very big game. If the school is going to try it, I really think they really have to find a way to placate the season ticket holders.

Great line! It brings back memories of the slapping scene from Airplane.

Lol thank you for telling me my rights I mean c'mon. I have supported the idea from the beginning, but I am have been consistently saying its based on the fact I believe the SUAD office would take care of season ticketholders. I thank you for telling me what I have to do this isn't a pick a side debate I am trying to express my support without having season ticketholders and non season ticketholders throwing barbs back and forth.

Some of you guys need to settle down a bit. For all we know, we could be unranked when we play Duke. It could also be a Wednesday night game as a little "welcome to the ACC" by the ole boys doing the scheduling.

We could be unranked, but I'm pretty sure any decision to move the court would be predicated it on being a Saturday night game

There is a downside if you end up in a obstructed view or long range view seat and you can't see the game.

Unless you don't really care about watching the game and you only came to be part of a spectacle.

There wont be obstructed views LOL. This isnt Fenway Park. Its the friggin Dome. you can see the middle of it from any location inside of there. period.

The biggest regular season college hoops game in the past 25 years? Good lord man, get ahold of yourself. Snap out of it. For all we know it could be a #17 vs #25 game.

Wouldnt matter. Its the two winningest coaches of all time, two of the top 10 programs of all time, etc.
There is also ZERO Chance either of us are ranked #17 or worse.

This is 100% the game of the year for ESPN. They would salivate over it. Gameday would be there. The world would be watching. SO yes, without question the biggest regular season game in 25 years. Maybe longer.

Come on, there've been Duke-Carolina 1-2 games and stuff like that. It's quite a leap from "100% the game of the year for ESPN" to "without question the biggest regular season game in 25 years"

College hoops isn't really a sport that lends itself to big time regular season games, but it's months too early to say this would be the biggest regular season game in 25 years. (though like I said, this isn't a sport that lends itself to big time regular season games. But didn't Michigan and Indiana play a 1 vs 2 game just last year?)

Was doing some research, as for "the world would be watching", the highest rated saturday night game lasty year was the aforementioned Michigan-Indiana game, which did a 2.9 rating, good for about 4 million viewers. That's a lot of people, don't get me wrong, not quite the world watching.

Your welcome! I wasn't trying to tell you your rights or what you have to do. Just pointing out that you are being a little two-faced when you claim to be a supporter of the idea but "will be the first to criticize it once it becomes a disaster."

An even better reason not to give season ticket holders and donors worse seats after they are paid for.,

There have been numerous games in the past 25 years where Carolina and Duke have been ranked 1 and 2 (or vice versa), playing in the best college BB rivalry around, and playing for the regular season ACC crown. I don't mean to sound disrespectful, but a normal conference game between SU and Duke is not going to top that. At the end of the day this is just another conference game for 'Cuse (and Duke). It isn't like you are going to play Duke once this season and then never again. You are part of the ACC now. Welcome to the club. Try not to freak out.

How about if you're in Row 30 in the floor seats? Have you even been to a concert in the Dome?

If all the chairs are flat on the Dome floor, there's no elevation over the rows in front of you. Unless you're in the first 5-6 rows, all you'll get is a view of the back of people's heads.

It's a legit concern.

if the University made it known prior to renewing that the Duke game would have shuffled seats, my guess is 0.00001% of people would decide to not renew. And thats a high estimate.

Who said not renew?

Careful now, don't get in the way of our overinflated sense of ourself and our status nationally. :bat: Or, in the words, "Act like you've been there before!"

Oh, I absolutely agree with you. I was just referring to what I was familiar with. I'm sure Syracuse has played some pretty crazy Big East games in the past 25 years as well. My point is that it is ridiculous to preemptively claim that this will be one of the greatest games of all time. It is just a game against Duke, your second one of the season at that. It won't be the last game of the regular season so you won't be playing for an ACC crown. You aren't bitter r.i.v.a.l.s. (yet). It is just a game against a conference foe.

Not. Even. Close.

This is going to be awesome and awful all at once. It'll be awesome looking on TV, but dreadful for those in attendance.

It's going to happen. I hear it'll be simply courtside seats around the court then a whole lot of space between those seats and the bleachers. No temp bleachers at all.

If so, that's dumb

pretty easy solution. refund the game to season ticket holders.. give them first dives into what ever configuration the game comes up with.. they have the choice to buy in or not.. then sell whats left.. special games gets special seating rules.. no one is being forced to go

It is a unique PR opportunity that should be taken advantage of. College basketball is all about recruiting and recruiting is all about image. This is a business. Think like a businessman. This is priceless PR.
Upperdeck has a great solution for season ticket holders.

Refund how much? What is the game worth?

So tell the people with the most invested in the program that they just lost the best home game on the schedule?

they are not the most invested people.. just because they have the most money or got the tickets first ?

Because a good number of them are donating for the ability to buy preferred seats in addition to the tickets, and I'm sure many are donating to Athletics beyond that as well. If the plan doesn't include temp seating on the field, how good are those 100 level seats that are now 30+ yards from the court?
