My apologies if there is already a thread on this. Looked on the recruiting board and didn’t see anything. AI summary says we haven’t landed anyone. With Red making his way to the exit this seems like a dire situation. Should there be cause for concern?

I doubt any big-time recruit will commit to a coach who will 99.99% be fired at the end of the season.

Lucky for the new coach, there is a portal now, so they will be able to build a roster that way.

So I would say at this point, the three most popular names. Here is a look at their 2026 recruiting class:

Josh Schertz at St Louis

Jermel Thomas, PG, Bronx, NY- 132nd overall player per 247, 4 star

Bryan Hodgson at South Florida

Nothing

Tony Skinn at George Mason

Shane Pendergrass, PF, Chatham, Virginia- 140th overall player per 247, 4 star
Peyton Miller, CG, Atlanta, Georgia- 3 Star per 247

We're not going to get any high schoolers either way. We're likely to get a HC at another program and won't announce it until the end of his season. So we'll have to rely on the portal, trying to retain a few current players, and possibly the new coach brings a player or two with him. Hope next year isn't sunk and the new coach can hit the ground running. We'll need to announce the new hire right after the season and we'll need donors to put up big money so we can be aggressive in the portal.
