My apologies if there is already a thread on this. Looked on the recruiting board and didn’t see anything. AI summary says we haven’t landed anyone. With Red making his way to the exit this seems like a dire situation. Should there be cause for concern?

I doubt any big-time recruit will commit to a coach who will 99.99% be fired at the end of the season.

Lucky for the new coach, there is a portal now, so they will be able to build a roster that way.

We're not going to get any high schoolers either way. We're likely to get a HC at another program and won't announce it until the end of his season. So we'll have to rely on the portal, trying to retain a few current players, and possibly the new coach brings a player or two with him. Hope next year isn't sunk and the new coach can hit the ground running. We'll need to announce the new hire right after the season and we'll need donors to put up big money so we can be aggressive in the portal.

Just looked and Hodgson and USF do not have any 2026 commits. Out of there top 6 players they only have two 10 ppg players that have eligibility next year.

Every player in NCAA hoops is a free agent each year now.

If you have the money it is much easier to get a new coach and win immediately. The days of a big time hoops school like Syracuse needing to ever slowly rebuild should be over.
