Anyone care to summarize?Pretty rough public article for our kids to read before the season, regardless if it is fair or not. Would have liked to see this posted after the season at least. They still have games to play. This article basically said they all suck and are underperforming and the coaching sucks as well and could be blamed as well.
But it certainly feels like the university exposes themselves to much bigger risks than they realize by underfunding athletics, then are shocked when things implode on them.
Yes very transparent ha. Now for the other perks they get in SEC land creating an uneven playing field.Very transparent from Georgia on how they are going to use the 20.5M
That's going to be the model most schools use, as it mimics the House settlement parameters.Very transparent from Georgia on how they are going to use the 20.5M

Well Dusty May left FAU for Michigan and 3 of their best players went to Michigan, Arky, and UFYup very enlightening. Those are definitely the norm last year yet this year they are all sitting 5th in the same midmajor conferences this year.
I thought it was all about coaching so why are they no where near the bubble this year?
Agreed. Thank you.Don't bother continuing to answer him, he isn't worth the bother.
expect SU to come very close to thisVery transparent from Georgia on how they are going to use the 20.5M

I do wonder if that's the proper distribution for SU.
I think Fran would probably freak out if it were distributed another way, but MBB getting a higher percentage at SU would make sense in my eyes.
74% FB
20% MBB
3% WBB
3% Other
That's $900K more per year for MBB and could help significantly.
Need to prioritize the cash cow - and get a coach in who can do the job, too.
How much NIL is needed for women's basketball? I don't really follow it -- what's a reasonable target?expect SU to come very close to this
Like I said they are always reacting. They are never out in front of anything. How are they so unprepared?? Did they think this stuff only applied to football LOL Everyone should be fired.
Like I said they are always reacting. They are never out in front of anything.
For those asking about distribution- I was told initially basketball is getting $4m of the 20. Let’s see if that comes to fruition
I doubt there's anyone here who won't acknowledge that SU is much more challenged in this Player Compensation era (and in the Facilities Arms Race era that preceded it) than other power conference schools.Feel free to keep hammering me on just how stacked the deck is against us with the money. These articles go on and on.
Aw, come on man. I'm conversate respectfully.Agreed. Thank you.
Agree with you on all fronts. Maybe the only thing that's happening more and more is that the state courts and legislatures in these states places are all colluding together with their state universities to keep ahead of the sports game, while we play it safe like others have said.I doubt there's anyone here who won't acknowledge that SU is much more challenged in this Player Compensation era (and in the Facilities Arms Race era that preceded it) than other power conference schools.
I mean, that's a water is wet thing that we've been discussing on these forums for literally 3 decades.
The concern is that SU basketball is dramatically underperforming this season relative to its compensation budget. Even if we were dead last in P5 NIL (and we're not, we're at least in the top half of the ACC), we should be hovering around 75th in NET ranking. That would be "batting our weight" in terms of NIL.
Yet we're almost twice as bad as that.
Maybe I’m just imagining things (and if I’m wrong I’m sorry) I but I swear one of our trusted sources here had previously stated that red didn’t like going around asking for money and that he didn’t even really start doing it much until offseason leading up into this season. Which, If true, was insane because that means an entire off season and season passed without doing much if any of that.yup, in season.
I hope you're wrong.
It also shows how talent depleted this roster really is. It’s worse than I originally imagined. Coaching obviously hasn’t helped. Totally utter failure in the portal.Wow, this article is even more unflattering than yesterdays.
I think the approach is with more scholarships, you have a better chance of success developing guys out of HS (which is under recruited) and then you focus on using money to retain the guys that work well. The ones that don't move on elsewhere or are practice bodies. To me, the ROI and math makes sense.Question. I understand that in football the roster can be 105 max. Also, that there are no longer walk ons. That every player is a full scholarship student athlete,
If that is the case, doesn't it make sense to shrink the size of the roster. Cut out 25 scholarships' Have a roster of 80 to 85 players and pay them well. Not sure if we need 105. Reduce rosters and pay the players on the roster more. Do that for Football and Men's Basketball.

Dino.Well, it's 50 years of history, so I would expect the same thing.
Danforth was replaced by an assistant coach in 1975.
Coach Mac was replaced by an assistant coach in 1991.
Boeheim was replaced by an assistant coach in 2023.
For lax and women's hoops, we hire alumni.
Gerg was a supposed glamor hire, but it was because Mr. Two Phones knew him through the USC connection.
Have we ever done an actual national search in the last 50 years?
