Saw a video yesterday and they asked would you give up watching all post-season sports for 30 million dollars. I said yes pretty quickly. However, they added a caveat that you could never know what happened in the post season either and I admit the question became more difficult. What are your thoughts people?

It's logically inconsistent. My first reaction would be sure, I'll give up "watching"; radio and interwebs it is! But how is that "You'll never know the results" gonna work? Unpossible.

Eh, probably not. We don't have anywhere in the stratosphere of $30 million, but we have enough to live comfortably. The flow of the annual sports calendar is so embedded in my life, that suddenly not having it would be too much of a shock to my system. I would rather watch sports playoffs with my middle-class friends and loved ones and chicken wing dip than sit around on a yacht somewhere drinking champagne.

If Syracuse was playing for a national title in football or basketball, which I've invested a lifetime of emotional energy towards, literally my entire social network would be watching that game. What am I going to do, fly to the Seychelles and die of FOMO while this is going on?

Easy peezee. I would be too busy golfing and seeing the world. There is a 6 month cruise I have had my eye on. Long term goal.

Yes. For $30 mil, I'll move somewhere warm enough that I don't need basketball to get through the winter, lol.

I think I would too. Not quite the same, but I took a year off from fantasy sports and was surprised at how liberating it felt to not have to keep up with transactions, draft prep, start-sit decisions and injuries, to say nothing of checking scores on gamedays. I haven’t gone back and don’t have any plans to. My friends and I share other interests so it’s not like this is our only way of staying connected.

There would be times when it would suck to not share in a deep playoff run or feel detached from something your hometown or alma mater is wrapped up in but I think I’d deal.

Don’t fault those who would take it at all, but I used to really enjoy watching SU sports. (Been harder lately) It was something that made me immensely happy, alongside my family and a few other select things. Money for me doesn’t do that.

No. Large portion of my social circle revolves around SU sports. I am and will be fine financially. I don't need 30 million.
Same. Plus my wife would literally kill me if I couldn't watch sports. We love spending time with each other and going to different events, but we would end up with too much "we" time.

And if I wanted to watch TV, I would probably put Jeopardy on TV. For reasons unbeknownst to me, she automatically goes into another room. Other shows I would probably watch alone would be Storage Wars and Impractical Jokers. And we would end up having our own storage wars.

Status Quo is very much, Happy wife, Happy life.
