Interesting Would you be willing...

Reading - you can watch all the sports you want, just not the postseason? Sure easy small thing to give up for my family to get 30 million.
Keep in mind, you’ll also never know the results of what happened in the postseason

Saw a video yesterday and they asked would you give up watching all post-season sports for 30 million dollars. I said yes pretty quickly. However, they added a caveat that you could never know what happened in the post season either and I admit the question became more difficult. What are your thoughts people?
I would take that money. If I were younger, it would be a more difficult question. Maybe I’d still have the confidence that I’d make that amount on my own…. But at this point, I’d like to live well for 10-15 years, and I’d be content with all the regular season games as being enough. Plus, that wouldn’t include Formula 1 or tennis or Olympics….

I’d take the money and run, no question. I would probably change the way I watch/root for sports and just treat regular season championships (IE Cuse winning an ACC regular season championship) as a true champion. And I’d probably just end up getting more into sports that don’t have a postseason. For instance, EPL, golf, etc. Plus there are a couple sports where the regular season is better than the postseason (ie college football).

Now if it was “never watch any sports ever again or take $30 million” I would need to think long and hard about it.

I would do it for $10M, but my favorite teams have all won Natties in my conscious memory.

I'd like to see SU football get one, but I don't think it's happening, and if so, I'm not crazy enough about the team to deeply regret missing it - You can put that on me not really having followed SU football growing up and then attending during the GRob years.

I would rather watch sports playoffs with my middle-class friends and loved ones and chicken wing dip than sit around on a yacht somewhere drinking champagne.
Why wouldn't you invite your middle-class friends to hang out on the yacht?

I mean I’m sure they would love that most times of the year. But I feel like most would respectfully decline if it was Super Bowl Sunday or Syracuse playing in the NCAA tournament and they werent allowed to watch.

Eh, probably not. We don't have anywhere in the stratosphere of $30 million, but we have enough to live comfortably. The flow of the annual sports calendar is so embedded in my life, that suddenly not having it would be too much of a shock to my system. I would rather watch sports playoffs with my middle-class friends and loved ones and chicken wing dip than sit around on a yacht somewhere drinking champagne.

If Syracuse was playing for a national title in football or basketball, which I've invested a lifetime of emotional energy towards, literally my entire social network would be watching that game. What am I going to do, fly to the Seychelles and die of FOMO while this is going on?
