Interview Questions For Next SU AD

The title of your thread is Interview Questions For Next SU AD. I'm pretty sure we did not misunderstand.

Yes, but the first sentence of the post reads "How would you answer the following?"

So the inquiry was not whether you felt the listed questions would be asked.

It did not ask the reader to assess whether the questions should be asked.

It did not seek an assessment of the interview technique contemplated by the questions.

It sought answers to the questions. Or the answers that you would want to see the prospective AD provide.

So, you and Scooch and apparently others misunderstood.

Well actually asking what sport you would add or eliminate is not a leading question.

Why?

Because it is a hypothetical question that does not suggest an answer.

I know you're brilliant, but apparently are not a trial lawyer.

Stick with the punting on fourth down stuff.
sorry, i meant loaded question, not leading.

I see.

I guess you felt that the question presumed that a sport would be eliminated/added.

Actually, the question was meant to be hypothetical - if one sport were to be eliminated/added.

The classic "loaded" is far more cynical - "When did you stop beating your wife."

The loaded question forces the respondent to "admit" to something that is not true or factual.

So, the question was probably not loaded.

Clearly. At least I had a lot of company.

FWIW, I agree with others who felt like the majority of questions were too specific to an insider agenda or could not be reasonably answered by an outsider.

That said, you were clear that they were YOUR questions. Heck, for shits and giggles I answered them, in a case or two insinuating they may not be the most appropriate questions.

But...this is an Internet chat board. To take things too seriously makes me step awaaaaaaaay from the computer, especially since I try to come to this place to escape, you know, real work.

Go Orange. Or Orangemen.

Clearly you have mastered the concept.

I think others will be relieved to learn from you that the questions were not from an actual SU AD interview.

Now, about the Cleveland "Bros" stuff???

well that's not how you put it.

Oh my.

You really are trying very hard to find something here.

Hey, look at the bright side.

Stern likes you!

Edit: I just went back and looked at the question. The question was what sport "would" you eliminate/add.

It was not what sport "will" you eliminate/add.

So, I think it was a hypothetical question - as I drafted the questions, I wasn't really thinking about the specific structure of the sentences, just trying to spur discussion.

So, I think the question is fair - not "leading" and not "loaded."

But there is still good news.

Stern still likes you!

Take it more seriously you can't. Disclaimer: I have not worked on a college campus. I only went to Syracuse for 4 years and continue to root for the laundry. I have my specific hopes from a new AD but i'd have no clue what to ask an incoming candidate b/c i don't know 1% of what the real obligations of that job are. I have my own myopic view of the position but i'm sure i'm wrong. OrangePA I applaud you setting up the faux interview questions to spur some debate though. i come here for nonsense like this b/c i genuinely like Syracuse football and the discussions that go with it. I'm weird like that.

Unfortunately, much of the discussion was not about the points of view that the questions sought to elicit.

But, still the discussion has been very funny.

That's because the most everyone agrees on the answers to the questions. There is very little to discuss.

Interesting.

I didn't get that impression at all.

So, in sum, what are the answers upon which most everyone agrees?

I don't think your OP was that bad. Most people realize the main person giving you a hard time gives pretty much everything he disagrees with a hard time no matter what just because that's his MO. I don't think everyone agrees as some think SS deserves a 4th year no matter the season's results. I wish we as a fanbase agreed to regarding your what must SS do this season and that this season should be a bowl season or we get a new FB HC.
If some think say we go 5-7 and don't have a commitment from the stud RB prospect Robert Washington SS's 3 year record would be 15-22 and that is not good enough to remain HC because he was hired to maintain DM's momentum we got problems.

The fact that Mad responded to the questions and no one disagreed. They were pretty much what I would have said, so I liked it and moved on.

you're not going to hire me, are you

My two questions:

How much do you feel it's worth to pay a 5* QB to come to SU? How much for a 5* RB?

What on-campus recruiting techniques would you use? Escorts? Strippers? Cocaine?

My goodness...you find controversy in a post where I express an opinion that people have different opinions?

And I am a racist. Just like you. We should hang!

My answers to questions 1 & 2: "Whatever it takes to get them to sign on the dotted line"

My answers to questions 3,4,5 & 6: "Whatever it takes to get them to sign on the dotted line"

I haven't read the entire thread, but if there was ever an indicator to go the other way, that would it.

Yes, of course.

But the whole thing is amusing.

Oh no, I think you misunderstood.

I was pleased that you recognized that the questions were just for discussion - that they were not actually posed during an actual interview.

I thought that you gave some very insightful responses.

I really don't understand the rest of the post, sorry.
