I'm just not sure what other QB that anyone could make a reasonable argument for being ahead of him other than possibly Montana.

I mean Montana only went to 4 SBs. I get he is 4-0 but I would rather have 6 SB appearances on my resume than just 4. Brady has won atleast 10 games 12 out of 13 seasons he has played and the year he didn't win 10 games his team went 9-7.

Brady and Montana are now even. Both 3 SB MVPs and 4 rings. Brady's reign has been longer 13 years apart rings rather than 8 for Montana.

Montana has 1 regular season MVP and Brady has 2.

Joe Cool finally has someone on his level. Brady still has a chance to get one for the thumb.

No.

He is up there but not the best ever. And I hate to say it but Spygate and now this ball controversy does take away from his accomplishments. Montana and others don't have hanging over their head. That suspicion of "cheating"

I think the competition has leveled out.. more teams win the SB now being just above avg instead of being really good.

Unless the ballboy goes rogue and says Brady ordered the code red Ballgazi is going to end up being nothing. NFL Network reported this http://www.si.com/nfl/2015/02/01/deflategate-only-one-patriots-football-underinflated
If only 1 ball was underinflated and Chris Mortinsen's source in the NFL office was that former NYJ executive then Goodell will be apologizing.

Brady and Montana are now on the same level. Just below them are Elway, Unitas, Manning.

Thank you Alsacs. If I hear one more person say that 4-0 is better than 4-2 I think I will flip out. Yeah, if you are a pitcher. But not as a super bowl qb. IOt's not like Montna only played 4 seasons. His team was jsut losing before the super bowl. It's hard to say best to almost anything in football. I think gronk is the best tight end I have ever seen. As for brady, I wouldn't argue with anyone who said he was the best.

The Giants are playing the 49 ers in a playoff game. The 49ers say their head sets aren't working. So the Giants have to turn their head sets off. The 49ers always have their first 15 plays scripted. They have Joe Montana. They win. The following year they are playing in the playoffs again. Bill Parcells says he walks over to Walsh pre game and says I know what you did last year. If you try it again, I'll turn you in (obviously the 49ers shut their own head sets off. they were prepared for it, the Giants weren't) Walsh looks at Parcells and says gamesmenship. It's gamesmenship when you do it and it's cheating when the other team does it. A lot of Jeter fans here. he faked being hit by a pitch. replay shows the ball never came close to hitting him. Is that cheating? Does that take away from his legacy? Not if you're a Jeter fan. Then it's gamesmenship.

Brady and Montana are equal when it comes to SB rings, but Brady is superior in literally every other individual or team performance category.

Personally, last night didn't change my opinion of him at all. He's among the best of all-time, but I'd still probably take Montana, Elway, Peyton, and Rodgers over him. I feel like people's opinions of Brady should pretty much be cemented by now.

13-15 against with two TD's against the best defense of this generation in the fourth quarter clinched it for me.

He's on Mt. Rushmore with who? --Unitas, Montana, Elway?

It's funny how the number of championships a quarterback has is affected by plays that happen when he is not on the field. Manningham, Tyree, Kearse. Brady could be at 3 to 6 Superbowl championships. Even if he loses last night, you can still make the argument that he is the best.

Fran tarkenton is all though no SB wins he played 1961-1978 and still is 8th in career passing yards and 6th in touchdown passes

Not the same. Doesn't explain Spygate.

I totally agree about how championships can sometimes not be the best barometer of greatness due to the randomness of them, so if you look at Brady's winning success over his career, his resume is still untouchable. He has 21 career playoff wins (Montana is a distant 2nd with 16), his career winning percentage is 77% (Staubach is 2nd at 74%).

And he's done all this with good but not great offensive players the majority of his career. He never had Jerry Rice to throw to for a decade.

spygate was the most over rated scandal. They were filming a guy from their sidelines. Every team did that but they all stopped when the league told them to. BB didn't. He deserved to be fined. But it wasn't the big deal people made of it.

No, but he has had a great defense or great offensive weapons basically every year. In terms of stats, he hasn't been in the best situation all the time, but he's definitely been in a great situation in terms of winning probably every year of his career.

Brady is good but he didn't do ANYTHING special in that game. He threw maybe 5 balls further than 10 yards in the air and two of them were intercepted. As with his past SBs this win is on his defense. You could plug any NFL QB in to that offense last night and get the same success. He was able to take advantage of some terrible match ups and a lot of illegal pick plays. The player picking is not permitted to intentionally make contact with the defender. Again Brady is a smart QB and good but last night was not a legendary performance in any regard. Last night was average at best.

As a Bills fan, it's been a staple of mine to trash Brady and the Pats as much as anyone. Seattle has also joined that territory.

That being said, I completely disagree with your assessment. He was down 10 in the 4th against the league's best D, with no momentum, and dominated the quarter. I don't see how that was average. Yes he had two picks, one much worse than the other.

It's hard to admit, but he is the most accomplished of all time.

What year? I was a 49er fan and I dont ever remember beating the Giants in the playoffs.

Yes... Greatest punchable face ever.

I kid, you may not like him, but, you have to respect him.

He's a gamer and been at the top of the game for a long time. System or no system, he's still had to orchestrate the offense and throw the bean where he's supposed to.

He'll always be discussed amongst the GOAT's.

brady only gets this thought today because the oc for the other team had a brain fart of such huge proportions he gave brady a win

brady's 3rd quarter was non existant -

we would all be jabbering about wilson had that pass been completed

LOL average? Seattle was supposedly the best D in the NFL and the Pats moved the ball all game long. So basically because the Pats learned from the NYG DL dominating and game planned to get the ball out fast that makes the performance average.
That is straight haters are going hate stuff. Brady wore the Seattle DL down with the long drives in the first half by the 4th quarter they were gassed. The 2nd TD to Gronk was a dink pass? Going deep on Seattle is stupid. The NE gameplan was genius it was death by 1000 paper cuts rather than going for big plays.

This story wAs on Bill Walsh's NFLN A Football Life. It is true I believe it was 1983 or 1984.
