is it time that florida state can shut up

I don't know if Palm Beach is honest - They are reporting:

2009 - Cook was arrested and charged with robbery. Prosecutors elected to give the young man a break and dropped the charges.

2010 - Cook was arrested and charged with firing a weapon and possessing a weapon on school property. Prosecutors again wanted to give the kid a chance. Charges dropped.

2014 - Charged with criminal mischief, completed pretrial intervention in May 2015 - charges dropped.

2014 - Named as an associate in an aggravated assault case in which he and two other men pointed and threatened a neighbor with a gun, at Cook's apartment.

2015 - Arrested and charged with battery after beating a woman in the face and head several times, currently out on bond.

As a juvenile there are several other incidents that were sealed because of his age.

Got this off an FSU board.

Sounds like Jimbo recruits talent by a wide margin over character, it seems that any University can look up arrest records that were not sealed as it appears they were not sealed here.

That's not just Jimbo who recruits like that. I actually really like Jimbo and maybe that's why I'll defend him but I'm pretty sure if you look at other top football factories in the country, you'll find similar stories.

Correct me if I'm mistaken but it seems we've had a lot more issues with players in our basketball program than football program in the past decade or so. Not coincidentally, our basketball program is considered a factory whereas our football program has been the opposite. Taking into account the fact that the football team vastly outnumbers scholarship basketball players it makes you wonder why immense talent seems to come with baggage.

You make a fair point about the B.B. program as maybe the elite talent in all sports demand they be treated differently than the student body as a whole.

But at some point people are going to need to stop supporting Jimbo as the charges these kids are racking up are very serious in nature and are not shop lifting types like MCW was.

Just look at the charges these FSU players are being charged with repeatedly, that does reflect on the coach as these are not isolated from his program, but becoming the norm

Wasn't the Video evidence erased also...never to be found again.

It's out there somewhere
Probably in the "Investigator's" basement.

MCW was never charged.

You just furthered my point
Yes, and no. It was the store's policy... nothing to do with with the police, unlike the situations with FSU football.

Jameis was never charged either, just like the stuff with Scoop, Flynn and can't recall the other guy?

A lot of stuff gets brushed under the rug.

I thought I had heard that there was a video tape in conflict to what the victim claimed, correct me if I am wrong.

Yes, and it can be yours for the low low price of $19.99. Available in Bluray or DVD.

Obviously, the local police don't care. But it's hard to believe the FSU faculty and alums would stand for this kind of criminal in their midst .. no matter what his talents. Maybe I'm giving them too much credit.

The video disappeared ... after local law enforcement slow-peddled the investigation. If it had exonerated Winston, you can bet it would be front and center.

The police and DA were most definitely involved. This was not the case with MCW.

just like the stuff with Scoop, Flynn and can't recall the other guy?
Are you referring to things wrt Scoop's uncle, or something else? I don't recall anything else, but I may not have been paying attention.

I don't know what you're talking about. ;)

That's how good we are :).

It may never have went public, but there was certainly accusations. But I think just like the Winston case, the accuser may not have been too reliable.

This happens everywhere we shouldn't be anyone to judge. Only time I recall one of our athletes hitting a woman was DeShaun a Williams, but we have had our fair share of fights (both on court and off), fights with police, theft, and s e xual assault accusations.

Todd Burgan dragged a girl down the stairs by her hair ... that dude was a joke.

There's a difference here ... kids are going to do things and get in trouble. The issue is .. what is done about it. For the most part, I don't see a pattern at SU (like FSU) of sweeping things under the rug and stalling law enforcement efforts. To the contrary, some kids are crucified (Eidelin) for relatively minor offenses.

We had a couple FB players accused of burglaries ... they're gone. That's it. At FSU, burglary is just the beginning. Serious sexual assaults get buried or soft-peddled. Cooks sheet is longer than his arm.

We are the definition of a glass house.
Careful now.
Don't you be throwing no stones.

Nothing to see here... just move along. ;)

when big money is at stake that's what happens. Each college has to have a leg up on the others, much easier to turn a blind eye and gamble on the player in question. It's completely wrong but as long as the NCAA is running the show I don't see anything changing anytime soon

I think public opinion is helping to change things, well maybe social media more than anything. Schools are very worried about negative PR, so there is a little more pressure these days to try and curb the behavior.

The problem is that we get the negative PR and have nothing to show for it.

FSU at least has a recent NC in football.

Given the choice...FSU+Negative PR= NC or SU+ Negative PR = No NC ...Seeing as how it seems the negative PR in CFB is unavoidable by pretty much any program, I would choose to have one than not.

Name a program in the current P5 that has not had these type of issues...
