Is it time?

A rational discussion requires a rational question and deciding to "blow things up" because we are off to a poor start is irrational.
It is not irrational to think about the future by any means. The term I used is over the top, but that was the point.

Cmon.. The Final 4's have been a nice bandaid to cover up the problems we've had for a few years now. This is isn't just because "we are off to a poor start".

Nope, why would i stop following my team? I am 45 and grew up with pearls teams and loved it. Thing is JB has lost his coaching fastball years ago and tbe whole coach in waiting thing is national joke. Who does that for 15-20 years? In that time we are only relevant d/t the dome and its attendance potential. We seduce recruits. Once in the program, the player development is comical. Thus, resulting in pooor play on the court. Cal coaches his balls off all year, its a process and you see players get better as the year goes on as well as the TEAM.

Player development is comical? Poor play on the court? You're 45? You act like we suck every year.

Final Fours made good band aids.

If we were off to a good start, this thread wouldn't exist.

You could be right about JB losing his coaching fastball. I don't know how you say the development is comical unless your only looking at guys who did not get better. How do you account for the fact that Cal has the best players to work with every year when crediting him with development? God, if I had the best singers for every show my job would be a whole lot easier.

Sorry, what's d/t?

I would say the issue is more a recruiting issue than coaching issues...the reason we had so much success last year was that our three guard rotation was composed of two redshirt seniors who played together for years and a stud freshman who play up to/beyond his competition...can't go all in on one guard and have no plan B...we are not kentucky, duke, unc, or even Arizona

In college basketball guard play is of paramount importance...If you want to get deep in march and have a change to win it you need a stellar backcourt...Syracuse cannot go two to three seasons at a time with tremendous weakness at the PG position and expect to build on any importance in a league the caliber of the ACC...

Syracuse can no longer stand to have low iq/underachieving guards in the ACC...this is not like the old big east...

It is especially disappointing since we will most likely waste the remaining year we have left with Tyler Lydon...a great talent that if we had the guard play to support him could be averaging 25ppg and have a shot to cut down the nets

Very good post.

This defeatist attitude is amazing. I've been mostly a football poster but this is just a blip. Try being a SU football fan for the last 15 years...geez. You don't give up on a program or coach only after a few losses. The kids are very talented but just not playing as a team. The fact that TL is back is very encouraging...stop the nonsense.

That all eggs in one basket approach is insane. Unforgivable regardless of what the kid said along the way. He didn't sign along the way but we didn't think the possibility of Cal blowing in and grabbing him even existed?

3 out of 11 either played up to or exceeded expectations. Not good.

True statement, but you and I were around when Marc Guley was allowed to coach too long, and we had a complete melt down. JB has had a great run, and I for one don't want it to end like Guley, or Ben where things go south at the end. Time to ride off into the sunset while still on top.

What 3? I count more than that.

Marc Guley was a racist drunk. I'd hardly compare him to JB. And Ben's problem was a total lack of facilities in the two platoon era. Neither is a valid comparison to JB at all.
