Is Syracuse the New DARK HORSE of the ACC? Orange Football 2023 Season Preview & Predictions

I think the Shoulds are Colgate, WMU, Army, FSU. I think the Probables are Clemson, UNC, BC, Wake. I think the Tosses are Purdue, VA Tech, Pitt, GA Tech.

In all the Tosses, IMO we are the better team. Purdue I am tempted to put into Probable but it is a night game and our first road game. VA Tech I am tempted to put into Probable but it is a Thursday night game.

None of the 4 Tosses are at home, but at the very least you expect to win one of those. You also expect to lose at least one of those. So we should be looking at 6 to 8 Ws this year.
So we should beat FSU and we'll probably beat Clemson?

Clemson is obviously more talented than us, but I’m not afraid of them. We had them on the ropes three of the past five years.

I see Clemson this year being similar to last year, in that they’re very good, but like 10-3/11-2 good, not 14-0 good.

We can beat them at home. I'm more confident in beating Clemson at home than UNC on the road.

We need to play a very physical game to win, like the first half last year.

Hmm. You feeling Ok lately?

FSU toyed with us physically last year and could have named the score - we won't win down there. Clemson is coming back but that will be an uphill climb. UNC has better people. Other than that we can win any or lose any, and of the first 4 at Purdue is the only thing that is going to tell us anything.

Not me. I think UNC is... annually.... the most overrated football program in America.

Is making a Bowl even important anymore? Players opt out of the game or exit for the portal. Your roster will flip dramatically between December and August. It has become meaningless.

Since Bowls are even bigger crap shoots than they used to be, IMO 7-5 is the new magic number as it guarantees a winning season.

We need to create a winning culture where we are consistently going 7-5 or better 3 out of 4 years. Given the team we have this year, going 6-6 would be a disappointment. This year shouldn't be our 1 out of 4 worse than 7-5.

I think 7 wins is a good minimum for a program that wants to stay relevant.

6 wins is what keeps Dino employed.

And yes, bowl games are kind of stupid now. I'll still watch our game, get overly into it (when I say I wouldn't), but they're more a glimpse of next year.

The biggest downsides of a bowl game would be major injuries that carry into the following year and if a guy like, say, Allen's one game showcase earned him a better offer via transfer.

We dodged both of those bullets in those terrible field conditions at the Pinstripe.

I think Dino stays employed if we win less than 6.

Do you really think that? Do you really think we can lose to Colgate? Or WMU? Or BC? Or VTech?

Agree with your main point.

But I don't think it is out of the question that we could lose @ VT. If we play well, we can also beat them, despite it being on the road.

I meant to say as a general rule.

But I agree, if we go 5-7 this year, we're not going to make any moves.

5-7 with some tough losses is different than 5-7 with 5 blow out losses though,

I legitimately don't think there's any way we win less than 6. Depth has improved to the point where an injury or two shouldn't sink us, as in the past.
ehh, when shrader goes down are we confident CDRW can step in and perform better than last year? He needs to be at least good enough that Dino won't elect to keep a peg leg QB in the game.

No of the four of army Colgate and wmu will be easy. Purdue is the only game we learn anything from.
