The USCMB will be performing at Times Square today.

Follow-up from the AP:

USC did make its presence felt in the Big Apple on Friday. There was a pep rally in Times Square, with the Trojan Marching Band

and World Famous Song Girls,

and hundreds of USC fans, easily spotted in their gold and cardinal hats and shirts.

The band whipped through a 30-minute set that included all the favorites: "Tribute to Troy," ''Fight On," ''Conquest," and "Tusk."



The short show also drew the attention of plenty of passers-by on a hot day in Manhattan.

"Even I was thinking, this is pretty cool," said band member and trumpet player John Dike, a 21-year-old senior.

The band is boarding their buses at 5:30 AM and will be getting back on campus at 1:30AM Sunday.

Will they be provided with water? A friend was shocked to learn that SU did not provide them with water for the Northwestern game.

Here's what my friend wrote:

"Interesting thing I saw when I was watching the band in the quad, pre-game. It was so hot as you know and these poor band members are in nylon uniforms. I was watching them when they dispersed and a few of the kids (must have been freshman) approached me. They asked where I got my water bottle. I pointed to a nearby stand. They asked me if we knew if band members had to pay. They did. I asked if there was a band cooler and they said no. They said they had to report at 8:30am today and had no water since then. I handed them my water bottle and gave them $10 for 3 more bottles. They were so cute and so thankful. I had to ask another fan for 50 cents who kindly gave it to them since the water was $3.50 a piece and all I had on me was the $10 I gave them.

Doesn't it stink that the band members have to fend for themselves for basics? They are giving their time yet basics like water isn't provided? Makes me want to bring a cooler/snacks for those kids. Just didn't seem right to me."
