I don't watch aau ball, all I know at this point is school basketball (it's only mod a for my son and he'd rather just go to the batting cage over and over with his baseball team than bother with any other sport)
So I'm detached from it and not really that invested in it although I would rather see the kid play more sports in high school and forget about college baseball
But what I observe is absolute trash
The dad coaches on weekends aren't going to start wars over selfish plays, the mod and jv coaches tread very lightly, no one can keep a good book. I don't blame anyone. No one has enough court time to work on motion
So teams work on a couple plays, the kids are too stupid to learn them, the coaches get frustrated and call for motion which they've never practiced and the kids will not cut because they prefer to just stand there and get the ball back
It's this nonsense battle of wills to get to the hoop. If you turn it over ten times and make one circus shot, you celebrate with your family like a crazy person. It's not even necessary selfishness, it's just what kids think the game is
Every year I hope it gets smarter and every year it's just more and more I-got-this-ball
I love the NBA despite the idiotic rule book because of how the ball gets whipped around
Long winded. But Syracuse looks like a bunch of guys taking turns as the I got this guy
My sample is small, maybe it's different in other places. Maybe what I'm seeing isn't relevant to this
Just on cue is starling making the worst pass in the world. None of these kids know how to pass the ball even when they want to
