ISh at Clemson

Our Wr's look like they are in quick sand at the line of scrimmage. The last person to be able to get open may have been Mike Williams.

Even when Long/Hunt were completing passes - it was a combination great throw and great catch most of the time. We never have separation. And Ish has been the same way in his 2 good games.

Ish doesn't need a lot of separation to make plays. He needs a QB to have enough time to make accurate throws. That was the difference in the Clemson game vs FSU and Wake.

Ish, West, and Broyld are going to eat up NC State, after we prove we can run on them ... and we will.

I dont disagree. Just pointing out the fact that we dont have guys running open.

From watching on TV, Ish had ZERO separation from the corner who was playing man on man. The tv guys at one point said that the corner covering Ish was a big time top 5 recruit coming out of highschool.

I think that was the most depressing part about watching the game on TV... Clemson rarely had to blitz to get pressure and they played man the whole time with maybe one safety deep. They didn't have to do anything out of the ordinary to completely shut down our offense.
Yes .. and it wasn't even close. Their defensive secondary could have read the newspaper while covering our receivers. This has been a consistent problem and is the main reason the stock defense against Syracuse (stack the box and dare them to throw) works over and over.

This is a HUGE problem .. because the common defense against Syracuse (stack the box and dare them to throw) would fall apart if we had guys that could get open and catch the ball.

I.E., we need more playmakers.

Clemson blitzed a lot, and consequently often used press coverage. Against that coverage, Ishmael struggled to get free. That frosh CB was only 5'10, but even though he is only 190 pounds, he was a lot stronger than Steve and physically dominated him. Impressive player who is going to be a very good player for them.

Even West had a very hard time getting any daylight between him and his defender. From what I see, Ashton is our only WR who is big enough, strong enough and fast enough to consistently get open against tough man coverage. It has been this way since the start of last season and remains a huge issue when we play against teams with top cornerbacks who press our WRs.
Thats why players like Enoicy, and Custis are needed, strong enough to physically impose their will on defensive backs. One announcer mentioned the officials were allowing both teams to hand check down the field.
