That almost definitely meets the criteria for “many many years.”I don't know, it was pretty bad in the '20s and '30s.
Certainly, but not "worst ever".That almost definitely meets the criteria for “many many years.”
There were plenty of games on cable in the 80s. It was the 70s where u got limited college hoops on TV. I remember watching tons of SU games with Pearl in the mid 80s on ESPN and USA Network.I think most people forget that if you go back to the 80s there was almost no basketball on tv for any one to actually watch so you cant go back very far and actually know how ball was.. you were lucky to see anything more than they top few teams play on a weekend.. You ddidnt even get to see most of the tourney games.. Then ESPN came and you go to see a handful more games.. it wasn until the 90s that you started to see most games and until the 2000s you saw more and now only in he last 5-10 yrs that you saw a vast amount of games.
there is more talent that ever in the game.. but the IQ level of players has gone away since its all more about ME than TEAM in many of them now.. the things that used to get you sat down people scoff at..
As bad as the reffing is, that is don't the road on what is bad about college hoop. At one time, you actually had to be good to go early. And even then. D.C. stayed 4 years. As did Mullen and Ewing. pearl was here 3 years. As was Owens. Now, guys that have a good weekend leave early. Good for them. But bad for the college game. Now take in the large size of the leagues which takes some of the passion away from both players and fans. There isn't that hate that the game once had. By the way, back in the 80's, Big East games were like an organized fist fight. There was a lot more contact. Just watch the way G-town played.I blame the officiating. Way too much contact and physicality allowed. No actual movement despite the attempts to fix. If they started enforcing the rules, the game would improve drastically.
Are you from the future? A time lord.I don't know, it was pretty bad in the '20s and '30s.
cable didnt close to our town until mid late 80s we didnt even have cable in college and then most people didnt get it until the 90s. even then it never came to the country folk around here. until fiber came this yr to us i knew more people around me with no TV at all than had Dish set ups because that was the only option. you cant even watch OTA for most of us around here and the new HD is even worse since it travels so poorlyThere were plenty of games on cable in the 80s. One of the most famous games in college hoops history (UCLA v Houston in the Astro Dome in 1968) was shown on tape delay at midnight. That was really the Dark Ages of college hoops.
That's unusual. I grew up in Syracuse and we had cable TV starting in 1978. I didn't feel like that was all that unique. Most decent sized cities all had cable TV by the mid 80s.cable didnt close to our town until mid late 80s we didnt even have cable in college and then most people didnt get it until the 90s. even then it never came to the country folk around here. until fiber came this yr to us i knew more people around me with no TV at all than had Dish set ups because that was the only option. you cant even watch OTA for most of us around here and the new HD is even worse since it travels so poorly
Exactly. Those guys are already on All Star teams now by the time they are 21.As bad as the reffing is, that is don't the road on what is bad about college hoop. You have to understand that yours is a very unusual situation. 95% of the US population has had access to cable for more than 30 years. Where do u live? Antarctica? There is still no cable where I live 2 miles from the center of our town.. we just got fiber so it was DSL until 1 yr ago. no streaming was an option.. Still no FIOS with verizon fiber. no OTA. at least with FIBER people have some options but you dont get all the local channels with that either. you cant get DISH where I live and Directv wouldnt install either but I installed my own dish and made them come out and try and we got it working.

Maybe the best of the best are but the majority of those that leave early are out of the NBA in 2-3 years if they were ever in it all. Not knocking that btw. It's well within their rights to do so. But for some they'd be better off finishing college and getting a degree.Exactly. Those guys are already on All Star teams now by the time they are 21.
That game was actually broadcast nationally in prime time. But some NBA finals games were only shown on tape delay in the 1970s.There were plenty of games on cable in the 80s. Didnt get cable in Queens til 1986. Amazing the amount of graft that prevented it til then.
