It’s been many many years

That game was actually broadcast nationally in prime time. But some NBA finals games were only shown on tape delay in the 1970s.
I was in Syracuse at that time and it was shown after the 11:00 news. The famous Willis Reed game of 1970 was not shown live either.

I stand corrected. It was shown live. My memory must be faulty on that one.

take NYC out of the equation and 75 % of ny state area has no access to cable even now until streaming comes in.

I live 45 min from the Dome..
The point still stands though. A massive amount of the US population has had access to cable for several decades.

I believe you, but that must have been a decision made by the local affiliate. Most of the nation saw the Alcindor-Hayes match up live.

You have been watching too many Acc games. Gonzaga and Baylor are really good. There is some really good bball being played in the big ten and big 12.

Agree. I won't dispute that it's not as good as it used to be. That's virtually impossible with the player turnover. But it seems like most people on here just watch Syracuse and form their perception by that.

No question I won't get into too much but early entry has hurt the product.

Syracuse best teams were strong on defense ... to hear Boehiem talk about we have to out score teams to win goes against everything he's built here...and alot of the change is because of Buddy and JG3 who are not athletic enough to play at the top of the zone... I'm not saying they shouldn't play but when they're playing 30-35 min a game they get exposed. Coach says Edwards was supposed to be a 2 year project ... well he needs more on the job training because we're going nowhere without his length in the paint...
Every issue comes down to recruiting, and it started long ago. It’s not like there is a draft and free agency. You have to take the best kids that will have you. Not sure when the luster of playing for SU started to wear. Lots of negative press about the zone doesn’t help. However, when it’s right, it’s as energetic and effective a defense as any M2M ( see the Rautins/Johnson team).
This team, for all its deficiencies, has some interesting defensive numbers, Some scary ones, as well.

Most S.U. Big East games were broadcast locally throughout most of the Eighties. I remember a bad post-game show that started with Leo Rautins, Bob Snyder and Eddie Moss (the latter 2 being very uncomfortable much of the time) to wrap things up. Moss was replaced by the time Constantin Popa came to town with Miami, and (the very same?) Leonard Hamilton. I think these games and shows were on WNYS channel 6 or something.

I remember Dave Bing doing color on SU games and Dolph Schayes as well.

Yeah. I watched part of the Texas game. They were great.
I tell you what's not great this seton hall-marq game. Marq shooting it like they did in the 2013 e8. I hate football less Sundays.

You should be used to the calendar by now. Your football Sundays usually end in December. :)

Yeah I have no idea where he's getting his #s.
hmm.. so you really dont know how this all works..

I was on some committees that worked with the states broadband project over the last 5 yrs.

even the numbers posted on that are not correct.. or mostly misleading

Say you live in monroe county and someone in the county gets giga Fiber.. that by rule means everyone in the county has access.. you know thats not true correct?

even then what does Fiber have to do with a cable discussion? they are not related in any way?

60% of the state has access to Fiber. Are you taking people or area?

There are areas around here that cant even get high speed DSL but count as fiber on that web site..

If making the tournament 3 out of 4 years is really really down in a rough acc then we are slightly overdramatic. Down a bit, yes. Not really down though.

Developing true positions is the current problem. We were missing 3 last year (Marek is a SF). With Kadary it's 2 this year, but the only chance of a real PF atm is ajax.

Not sure of the reasoning. There were a handful of bars, and maybe some private homes as well, who could get in on cable in Manhattan only.
Yeah back then cable was really not a thing. HBO was founded in 1972.
