We are not recruiting players who can compete in the ACC, Clemson blew us out, Maryland who is horrible blew us out, we really have not had A realistic chance to win any meaningful game. I’ve been bleeding Orange for over 60 years, I am starting to believe we will not be consistently good for a long time.
This is the first time I have posted in a couple years, I have always been hopeful but think it’s time to be realistic. Last year was great but the truth is we had a warrior at QB that carried the team.

Dungey was not a god. He was a good college football player. The 2018 team as a whole looked like they belonged against everyone including the best team in the nation. Now suddenly "we are not recruiting players who can compete in the ACC"? Come on.

This is a terrible year and I think replacing both coordinators would be a good idea. But we lost to Pitt and NC State by single scores. Let's not completely lose our minds.

Having those athletes won't matter if the coaches don't utilize them.

QB play can cover up inferior talent but Dino came into this job with the least talented ACC talent on his roster.
Dino has increased the talent and the guys on our team are better than the previous regime it’s still we have gone for 2-3 talent across the board to mainly 3 star talent across the board.
We don’t bring in enough 4 star guys who can be playmakers.

Next year will tell us all.
You can rebound in the ACC in one year.
Look at Louisville.

I think this team is just mentally weak. No leadership, no fight, no toughness. Pretty much that everything that made Dungey great, this team lacks. Guys smiling/laughing after just getting shellacked by a 4-5 football team tells you all you need to know.

Dungey was not a good college QB, he was a great college QB. This team has had 4 coaches since Pasqualoni was let go in 2004, Marone had some succes, Babers has had one great year, we are no better than Rutgers.

I think a lot of players that were young or in minor roles last year tastes success and thought they were entitled tomit this year. That type of attitude is tough to fix midseason. Doesn't the saying go, "Games are won in the offseason?" If we have the talent, this year should be a wake up call to a bunch of guys that need to fix things this offseason.

Not quite. The players bear a goodly share of the of blame as well. They’ve stunk, collectively, and it’s not all scheme. Dumb penalties and poor play is on them, and there’s been a ton of it.
Yes, but it's a lack of focus that comes from the coaching. We lost slayton and a couple average lbs and now we cant tackle? It falls on the coaches, this will be a defining moment for dino babers.

We are still better than Rutgers, UConn and UMass. But we are in danger to let Buffalo catch up. And we can't catch up with BC and Maryland. Let alone Penn State which is in the same league with us before 1990. SU is still in the middle class of Northeastern teams but slipping.

Everyone associated with the team is to blame, starting with the coaches for lack of recruiting, lack of game planning and lack of mental toughness.

As others have said there is no leaders on either side of the ball which hasn’t helped. I don’t know what the answers are but we can’t fire the players and Dino isn’t going anywhere.

The pressure will be on HCDB to cut ties with some of his good ole boy network of coaches.

Thank you. Been saying that all year. They say they care. They don’t

It is honorable to not turn on your guy. But right now, our performance is disgraceful. Other than our punter, what do we do well? Our recruiting is not good. Even after coming off a 10 win season. Offense, defense. both terrible. 3 wins with none being against a real team?? In year 4? This isn't about what he inherited. And by the way, he inherited the QB that got us the 10 wins last year. We have a basketball coach that takes heat here and has never had teams look like this. In year 4? This is serious business. We are going to lose season ticket holders after this fiasco forever.

Dungey was good enough to hide deficiencies on the offense. With him gone Syracuse's lack of talent is being exposed on offense. Which then rolls over to the other side of the ball naturally (with more turnovers, 3 and outs...etc, you put the defense in bad situations).

If this season has shown us anything it's that the 2018 season was a "HOUSE OF CARDS" and once you remove the Dungey card the entire thing collapsed. Only way to rebuild this house is to recruit better. Plain and simple. That's it. And if Dino can't do that then he is in store for more seasons like this season.

Of course but people act like Dungey was a generational talent the likes of which we will never see again, which is false. I think what this season is showing us is how critical it is to either (a) have a true athlete at the QB position at Syracuse, or (b) have a bulldozing OLine like BC. You can't be missing both of those things. Both Devito and the OLine have been massive disappointments. Sort of a perfect storm of incompetence.

If BC can get a great OL then there is no reason we can’t. I don’t think we “have” to get a running QB to be successful

I hope you're right, but I have concerns.

We do not have a Slayton or a Franklin/Bennett or a Custis/Ishmael or a Dungey - all from the previous regime.

We must take the next step in recruiting - that is clearly priority one.

And get rid of those stupid, friggin all orange uniforms!!!!

In my opinion, Dungey was a generational player.

I am not talking about pure talent.

I am talking about the entire package.

And, I question whether we will ever see another player like him.

In the meantime, we need to recruit bigger, stronger, and faster players - lots of them.
