US thought they were getting 22 WC but it went to Qatar. Terrible choice which no doubt was influenced by some serious bribe $$$$$$$$. There are rumors of a joint Canada US bid for 26 or 30.

Count me in at the Italy Norway game, Italy playing a man down and no Roberto Baggio. I was slightly out of place sitting in the middle of the Norway block of fans wearing my Italy shirt. And got beer dumped on me when Dino Baggio scored what turned out to be the winning goal.

I heard Canada US for next decade too. Somebody should be ready to host 2018 if the World decides not to play in Russia.

You guys all realize this is a forum about an American Football team right? I kid I kid. But seriously more power to you guys. I can't watch soccer. Caaaaaaan't do it. But people say the same about my beloved NHL. Difference to me is soccer is about 2.5 goals/90 minutes vs 5.3 goals/60 minutes. Not to mention hockey has hits and violence!

My friends and I went to a casual Italian pizzeria-restaurant right after we left the US - Switzerland game at the Silverdome. The Italy-Ireland game was on right after the US game, so it was of course on every TV in the place. The ironic part of the experience was that there was an Irish Pub right upstairs from the restaurant. When either team made a play or scored, the building shook. We told the restaurant staff that we were switching sides at halftime and going upstairs for beers.

I will admit those knee injuries are brutal. I know some guys in high school who had to get their knees redone. It is nasty but overall the game just moves too slow for me. I was going to post back a video of the 5 worst NHL injuries but it included a video of Jamie McGruffy's death on the ice and I decided against it. RIP Jamie.

The company that took it down is now headed to Pontiac to take down the Silver Dome.

Agreed. There was nothing wrong with the facility. There were really 2 reasons for it:

1. The current Falcons owner wasn't getting enough of a cut of the stadium revenues.
2. The NFL is after open air stadiums for the SuperBowl. The new stadium with a retractable roof gives Atlanta the opportunity to host more SuperBowls.
