It will be amusing to see the reaction

Problem with that is:

#1 Perception of the fanbase, they don't care who fits what

#2 They are now at a P5 school, go recruit a 3* or 4* kid that fits the system

#3 when the recruiting ranking drops, the fanbase will get restless

We already have a 3* rated LA state player of the year in Lindsey Scott already committed and they are chasing a kid that has already committed to BC. He hasn't given any indication that he will flip and Scott hasn't gotten a phone call yet to my understanding. I think Scott is better.

Just saying that this isn't the UPtick in recruiting that everyone was hoping for.

What if we get lower rated kids that are recruited to his system, we don't get the wins and he bolts for another lower level P5 job for more money than SU can pay.

I am all for drinking the Kool-Aid and buying into "belief without evidence" but this seems to be evidence, at least in recruiting.

Will sit back and see how this progresses.

#1 and #3 seem to be the same. Either way, perception will be cured with winning.

I believe that HCDB is contacting the BC recruit because of our lack of depth at QB. Wilson and The Sheriff are not going to be options next year, I would think. He needs to stock the cupboard.

Also don't think many expected an uptick in recruiting, at least right off the bat. If we have a decent year and the offense looks like it's supposed to, then we may see an uptick. Even with that, look at Baylor, with the exception of the current 2016 recruiting class they have been out-recruited by Texas every year. Two years ago, they had the #44 class. Some schools just attract better players than others, regardless of their record or style of play or Head Coach. And some schools, like SU, attract less.

I am not saying that the kid isn't deserving, I watched the tape and my understanding is that he is very raw and coachable. I am all in as well with HCDB. Perception is reality however among the non Die-Hards, who in the presser HCDB wants to win back into the dome.

Non die hards don't follow recruiting. If they just look at the ranking and decide not to go to games I'm not sure they are even fans.

Staff is in a grace period. Let it ride

Seems that we have 2 higher rated 3* linemen that haven't been contacted yet but we visited and accepted a commit from a lower rated 2* linemen. If this is the shake up in recruiting that people are alluding to, then it does not bode well IMO.

Heads will explode if this is what we can expect in recruiting going forward.

Which Lineman are higher rated and haven't been contacted (allegedly) ?

Doesn't them going after the BC qb fit your agenda? He's pretty highly rated.

By the way, I don't think he said he's going to win fans back, he said the fans need to do their part and fill it up and they will do their part and win games.

Noel Brouse and Cam DeGeorge are both rated higher.

We already have a 3* rated QB in hand, why chase a kid that is an early enrolee to BC? Both are rated the same and some like Scott better.

He said he was "going to give the fans what they deserve", pretty open ended but I am sure I took it as some others did. Meaning a winning football team that will get asses in seats. Good recruiting classes trending upward, and all the happy horseSh1t that goes with it.

Was I reading too far into it, maybe.

If you think people like Scott better than Anthony Brown, you're sorely mistaken. I like Scott a lot, but it's not even close in terms of that "perception" you keep talking about.

And by the way, who cares about perception? When's the last time the perception of a recruit won a football game?

And I mentioned it in the other thread - Brouse and DeGeorge were no more highly regarded when they committed. No one had ever heard of them. Brouse had offers from Bucknell and Lafayette. DeGeorge had Holy Cross and I think maybe UConn. Servais had Northern Illinois and Bowling Green, which are vastly better programs than any of those schools right now. And by the way - Brouse is considered a 2-star recruit by both Skowt and Riiivals.

Fellas, any recruit offered by multiple MAC schools, especially OL, is just fine in my book. The MAC is a very underrated conference that I am guessing sends more OL players to the league than the ACC. The starting 11 on some MAC teams can play in any league with the only difference being depth. There is plenty of talent in that league.

Higher rated according to a recruiting website. I'd rather have a guy that's higher rated by our staff.

DeGeorge and Brouse are both rated 2 stars at rvls and Servais will be the same. So they’re equal in terms of rating.

The Bowling Green staff offered the kid at their summer camp and carried that over to Syracuse. THIS tells me they believe he can play Tackle in their offense in the ACC; not just at Bowling Green in the MAC. (should be noted there’s been no movement on any other Bowling Green kid that I have seen yet; translation he's pretty high up their board)

Servais’ offers are better than Brouse's. DeGeorge has 1 P5 offer from NIT State. He also has UCONN and Temple but that’s no better than Servais with Northern Illinois, Western Michigan, Nevada etc.

AD Mark Coyle contacted Cam DeGeorge personally on Nov 25. Allegedly Coyle confirmed their offers would stick during these phone calls.

Syracuse AD Mark Coyle has contacted recruits. Got confirmations from hybrid Moe Neal (per Dad), OLB/nickel Will Harper and OL Cam DeGeorge.

*Why chase Brown? 1st Rex is coming off an ACL tear. 2nd because Brown is REALLY good AND an early enrollee. Does Brown really need an explanation?

Also doesn't hurt to potentially take a quality QB away from one of our biggest rivals. Not to mention a kid from a state we need to target frequently!

Belief without evidence needs faith. The Briles CULT strikes; football as religion. Amen! Wishful thinking ain't gonna make it so. You need horses if you are going to run with horses. This faith stuff doesn't cut it. The evidence of my senses tells me we have bought into a little snake oil. Call me a skeptic until the wins start rolling in....

"The Briles CULT" hasn't failed yet... This is belief with evidence.

yep, and I will take an O Lineman from Wisconsin anytime.

Didn't St. Doug pull some Scholarship offers when he started? (even for a QB if I remember correctly).

If Dino is going to run his system, he needs his type of players. This is just part of the business unfortunately.

No, see, this is how it works - we got a decade and a half of meathead football with a one year blip of enlightenment. We've got a good 12 years of failure in an attempt to modernize to go before we throw in the towel.

marrone took 1 look at the QBs he had to work with on day 1 and said...holy fluk, i need to get a dook point guard in here to play QB ASAP.

and just like that, a whole bunch of guys were 'recruited over'.

pretty embarrasingly, if you ask me.

whether scholies are pulled, just left there to sit hoping the kid looks elsewhere or they are recruited over...who cares??

this is change and we needed change.
