Problem with that is:
#1 Perception of the fanbase, they don't care who fits what
#2 They are now at a P5 school, go recruit a 3* or 4* kid that fits the system
#3 when the recruiting ranking drops, the fanbase will get restless
We already have a 3* rated LA state player of the year in Lindsey Scott already committed and they are chasing a kid that has already committed to BC. He hasn't given any indication that he will flip and Scott hasn't gotten a phone call yet to my understanding. I think Scott is better.
Just saying that this isn't the UPtick in recruiting that everyone was hoping for.
What if we get lower rated kids that are recruited to his system, we don't get the wins and he bolts for another lower level P5 job for more money than SU can pay.
I am all for drinking the Kool-Aid and buying into "belief without evidence" but this seems to be evidence, at least in recruiting.
Will sit back and see how this progresses.
#1 and #3 seem to be the same. Either way, perception will be cured with winning.
I believe that HCDB is contacting the BC recruit because of our lack of depth at QB. Wilson and The Sheriff are not going to be options next year, I would think. He needs to stock the cupboard.
Also don't think many expected an uptick in recruiting, at least right off the bat. If we have a decent year and the offense looks like it's supposed to, then we may see an uptick. Even with that, look at Baylor, with the exception of the current 2016 recruiting class they have been out-recruited by Texas every year. Two years ago, they had the #44 class. Some schools just attract better players than others, regardless of their record or style of play or Head Coach. And some schools, like SU, attract less.
