Assuming there are no more bid stealers these four teams are going to be battling for probably one spot Syracuse Monmiuth St marys Vanderbilt One of these four teams are getting in. We have to just hope it is us.

Edit. You may include valpo into this discussion but i dont think they are ahead of any of these teams

Before the games started yesterday, a former VP of a committee had assumed they had 33 teams locked into at-large spots; with 3 spots still open for 21 teams (some obviously more longshots than others). Did UConn and Michigan fill in 2 of those spots? Based on Marsh's post, that seems possible. That leaves one spot IF we assume Vandy, Monmouth, St.Mary's, Syracuse and Vandy are on the outside looking in. However, I am not sure if in his 33 he included teams like UVA/UNC, A&M/UK, etc...which would certainly open more spots when the P5 tourneys have winners

My head tells me that this is wishful thinking. My heart hope that you are right.

One. More. Damn. Win...

The only reason my head says this is that on all the projections we are in that last one or two out category. I am hoping that in that room where they make these decisions they sway it our way. Its our only shot

Our only chance is if it is that close and they look and see that we won at Duke, beat Notre Dame and St. Bonaventure at home and beat A & M and Yukon on a neutral site. That alone could put us over the top. Then if they consider the JAB suspension and figure that maybe, just maybe we would have won one or two of those games. All we can ask for at this point is that we are in some type of discussion.

Really if the committee thinks we would have beat Clemson we should be in -- that puts us at 20 overall and 10 ACC wins. It's really that simple.

I liked this comment beneath the CBS bubble write up:

Syracuse is 3-5 against teams ranked 1-25. No other team on the bubble has had close to that. Everyone else is 0-1 or 1-1. Yeah they lost 5 out of their last 6 ( and some bad loses too) but they also had several good wins. Beat UConn, A&M, Duke, Notre Dame, which are all schools that will all be in the tourney. And with A&M and UConn making a run deep into their conference tournament then it will only help their RPI. I think a play in game would be fair. Let them prove they do or don't deserve it.

Marsh why is St. Bonaventure ahead of us?

They played 1 P5 team in the nonconference and lost to Syracuse. They played no good midmajors in the nonconference.

Their best wins are Dayton, St. Joe's x2, George Washington and lost their first game in the A-10 tournament.

Just like the committee can't put Syracuse in ahead of Pitt I don't see St. Bonaventure in over Syracuse.

I agree. And i think the committee will as well

RPI...that's the only reason.

That is why the RPI is stupid. I guess Princeton should be a bubble team as well because they have a good RPI.
I am not picking on you but I hate when people shout RPI RPI RPI.

It is just a tool that is easily manipulated. Syracuse has 4 games versus RPI 200+ plus teams they cost us 15 spots in the RPI because of SOS. The thing can be rigged easily.

The Bonnies are considered a lock by perception but any objective analysis shows we have the better resume.

I couldn't agree with you more, I hate the RPI. I'm just saying that's literally the only reason. I know Joey Brackets has them a 9 seed, but I can't imagine they'd get in.

The Pac12 and A10 are very similar this year in how their RPI's are. Oregon State has a ridiculously good RPI for pretty much not doing anything but playing their conference opponents.

rpi does not handle the fact you an play 4 games against teams at 100 and someone else 4 games vs teams that are 200 and the rpis will be vastly different even though a good team should win them all .

college hockey is having the same issue using PWR to decide who gets in and not really looking at all at how teams play.

It really is that simple. What purpose does it serve to consider JB in the first place if it doesn't give us one more win. One more win and we were a lock.

Need to root for TAM, Uconn, and NC to win tourneys. This would result in the biggest boost in our RPI. That might be our best chance.

I agree with your four and your thought about Valpo. Do you have Michigan in or out?

It's a classic test of the whole resume or the eye test of how you have looked lately. Supposedly the criteria emphasizes the former and not the latter. We will see.

Ugh, I dont want to contradict myself about rooting for the enemy of my enemy, but I'm not looking forward to rooting for NC. Is it a sure thing that a win by them would help our RPI?

Jerry Palm has them as a 9 too.

I would objectively have Michigan behind Syracuse unless they beat Purdue today.

They have 7 double digit losses in their last 8 losses.

They have beaten Purdue/Maryland at home, Texas in the Bahamas and yesterday was their best win in a de facto road game against Indiana.

That 1 win isn't better than our resume.

Michigan vs. Syracuse I would say Syracuse has better wins away from home. If Michigan beats Purdue they are in.

I can't root for UConn today. I just want the Temple-UConn winner to win tomorrow against the Memphis-Tulane winner as well I want the St. Joe's-Dayton winner to beat the winner of Davidson-VCU.

I agree with you.

Battling with a B1G team for the potentially last spot scares me.

Palm has a fairly logical bracket. I don't agree with him that Vandy is out.
