I was very skeptical about the Gmac hire, but he’s absolutely crushed the assembling of the staff. I guess someone could nitpick, but it’s pretty much along the lines of what I was hoping he would do in terms of diversity of experience and age, splashy outside the Cuse family hires, a mix of innovative offensive and defensive expertise, but also Cuse connected coaches who have worked with Gmac for a couple of years. An absolute home run in my opinion. The only thing we’re waiting for is the GM, but it seems like Gmac’s staff may be handling those duties for now.
As for the portal and player acquisition, I’m not stressing about ANYTHING right now. Great to see us land that top Euro wing so quickly and Gavin Doty as well.
The portal literally just opened yesterday, and hardly any players have committed anywhere yet. There’s so many players for this staff to evaluate, connect with, and talk to agents, etc. It’s a lot, and I don’t envy their jobs. But this staff seems fully capable of putting togethern a nice roster for Year 1. Let’s see how it plays out.
