Red singing Carlos’ praises in the presser. I just don’t get it. He is approaching JB levels of stubbornness when it comes to Jaquan’s playing time.
Hitching himself to Carlos should inevitably be what does in Red. Whether that’s the case remains to be seen. It is a fireable offense to come into this season relying on a Hofstra transfer to run your offense. And his unwillingness to change that is what should be the nail in the coffin.
As for those who say “Carlos is the only PG on the roster currently” you’re a moron. Cuffe, Taylor, Choppa all give us a better chance to compete. I hate to pile on the kid, but Carlos has done NOTHING well. Not a single thing all year. It’s an indictment on Red’s talent evaluation

It's an indication of how bad Carlos is the comeback in the 1st half happened with him on the bench. We didn't turn the ball over, played defense and made shots.

1) I said I wanted to see him run PG, not shoot jump shots.
2) Most of those jump shots were when Red was playing him at SG with Carlos on the floor in the 2d half.
3) When he was running point he and the team had their best stretch of the game.

You have the players on your roster. Do you think Carlos should be playing 40 minutes a game? I don't. So who else could bring the ball upcourt and initiate the offense?
JJ is hurt, so who else do you have? Do you trust Bell or Lucas Taylor to bring the ball up, even as a secondary guard? Of course not.
So, do you think Carlos should play 40 minutes, or could Moore or Cuffe handle the ball for 10-15 minutes? I think we're a better team to have Moore & Cuffe in there together for 10 minutes, just so Carlos doesn't have to play 40.
You only have the guys on your team. You don't get to trade or draft players in midseason.
In the past, we have played a fat Joe Girard - who was 100% Gerry McNamara shooting guard in HS. We tried Jalen Carey, Kadary Richmond, Frank Howard, Howard Washington, Mike Gbinije, Kaleb Joseph and John Gillon over the last decade or so.
Only one or two of them were actual PGs. Would Moore or Cuffe be worse in limited action? I don't see how they could be a negative.

Yeah, I don't get it at all. It's one thing continuing to start Carlos and another to have him playing just about every minute of the game. In my opinion, we are a better team if he plays limited minutes or not at all.
It's gotten so bad that when Carlos went to the bench due to foul trouble, I cheered in front of my tv. I don't think I've ever done that before in 36 years of watching cuse basketball... cheer for our own guy to get into foul trouble. I just desperately wanted him to sit and it seemed that this was the only way it was going to happen.

I guess if you think our biggest problem yesterday was just needing to make a few more shots.....you can see how Carlos must seem awesome.

FG%: 37.5% (tied w/ Chris Bell for 8 out of 8)

Still 14th in MPG in all of the ACC.

And the team played better with him on the bench. That's where he belongs on the end of the bench.
If you're going to continue to lose at least play the players who might be here next year.
Also the ones who actually play some defense. Carlos has no shot, has a problem making layup, and until garbage time had 4 TO's to 1 basket.

Call me crazy but what would it hurt to try to start Cuffe at PG.. overall he's a better player the Carlos.. hell Bill self is a great coach and thought enough of him to give him a scholarship

The way they used Cuffe in the first half, after Carlos sat down, is how he should be used. He ran the point, drove to the basket, drew fouls and actually made the shot. Right now, he should not be used to throw up jump shots or 3s, though I think that will improve as he gets more time.
As stated earlier, the team looked the best when Carlos was out and Cuffe was driving and running the point. And frankly for a small dude he plays really good defense. I thought they had a great thing going once we hit halftime.
Then Red reset to Carlos time and we sharply regressed.
I was at the game and it was maddening.

Neither can shoot a lick. Cuffe is way more athletic. Carlos is 5 times the ball handler.

Either guy is like putting lip stick on a pg pig. Bottom line is we don't have a pg and we don't have a center. Not a good combo for winning basketball. Replace them with Judah, bring back the kid from Duke and we have a decent team

We need Cuffes D and intensity. I can't believe morons are making excuses for Carlos still. Also it's too bad Autry Jr graduated.

I thought Autry Jr was one of the better walkons his 4-5 years in the program? I'm sure he'd be better than Carlos.

Dribbling into trafific and back and forth on the baseline makes him a great ball handler

Never seen a guy dribble corner to corner in the offensive half court. He did it multiple times. I actually wonder what he thinks he is accomplishing
