not nec saying Purdue = Pitt, but our game and MSU’s game and how they unfolded were quite similar - dominant first half, atrocious 2nd half

Michigan St is now losing big to Rutgers in 56-30, five minutes left. This tells us a team back from pause just can't compete. SU performed poorly after three pauses is very understandable. We won a close one and lost two. The two losses can be avoided if there had not been pause.

The pauses have definitely hurt us, as have the absences of some players.

Still think we have enough to be better than we have been, if the right combos of guys were playing more.

Yes...the pauses hurt.
It takes time to get back in game shape and very little time to get out of it.
BUT...regardless of pauses, this team has issues..the most pronounced on the defensive end and in rebounding.

Look at the 2nd Pitt game and UVA.
Even if you want to say they are both better teams...the way they destroyed the zone was an embarrassment.
And the Orange had no answer except to put on the press which had some impact...but way too little and too late.

Most other teams would try something different.
The Orange stay in the 2-3 no matter how many 3's and slams are raining on it.
It's hard to admit, but that is a coaching issue.
Even for a coach with 45 years experience and some 1,000 wins.
It's not unlike the old definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

Not many, if any team are going to win at UVA this year, they are a national championship level team. No team was going to beat Pitt shooting as hot as they did in that game. Besides the fact that we played Pitt 2 weeks before and then they were on virus break and their next game was Syracuse again, So they had all that time to just focus on SU.

Gtech almost did, and I'm not mad about the 2nd Pitt game, its the first Pitt game that you cannot lose, and will haunt us.

All 5 loses so far are against tournament teams nd will be quad 1 loses. I'm sure many decent teams are have had wth loses during the virus breaks.

Not sure Pitt is a tourney team.

So basically we are 1-5 against possible tourney teams. Awesome!

So let me get this straight. When we are on break because of the virus, we get hurt by the lack of practice time. When Pitt is on a break because of the virus, it helps them?

Situations affect different people and organizations differently.

Took down OSU tonight. MSU will make the tournament.
I watched the last 5 minutes of that game. The number of fouls un-called was enormous. Both ways, but MSU certainly benefited more.

If the officials continue to let them play like that, they will be hard to beat.

think the league wants Sparty in? Officiating was horrid both ways but Sparty got the edge in my opinion. That said - MSU has improved a ton since earlier in the year. I'm jealous.

I watched the whole 2nd half and couldn't believe what I was seeing. It was a rugby scrum at times, and MSU was daring the officials to make calls. That last drive by OSU was so hilariously a foul.
