Jabari Parker...

Agreed. He's got the same build, and he's got a really, really strong all around game. He's incredibly impressive.

Yeah he does play very similar ... although the jayhawks d leaves plenty to be desired. We arent alone in being a young team. Parkers shot looks a lot like melos too

I think Jabari Parker is better than Melo was this early in the season.

He's talented enough to be player of the year let alone POY of the ACC.

This is what I said in the other thread: "Parker reminds me so much of the Syracuse-era Carmelo. The high socks, his build (solid/kind of doughy, but deceptively agile), the way he handles the ball, etc..."

I'm really impressed with him.

Parker really impressed me as well. I slept through the second half so I guess I missed the Wiggins show. That would have been nice to see.

Melo had 27 and 11 against Memphis in the first game of that season? Was Parker better than that?

27 and 9 vs Kansas is probably more impressive than 27 and 11 vs the 2003 Memphis, no? Can't find the box, so I don't know how well Melo shot, but Parker was took 18 shots to get his 27 points. Memphis finished the 2003 season with the #30 defense in the country. I think KU will be just a little better than that.

Jabari doesn't have G Mac, Hak, Craig Forth, Bill Edelin, Kueth or Pace around him.

I'm very unimpressed with the remainder on the Duke team.

Just heard the following from Jeff Goodman on ESPN:

"Jabari Parker is very much like Carmelo except Jabari is a winner...of course, he won at Syracuse, but.."

I stopped listening after that. HOT SPORTS TAKES are the worst

I'm not familiar enough with this years Duke team to know which guy had to carry more of the load. At that point in our season, we had no clue that GMac and Warrick would be as good on offense as they ended up. Duany was a known steady player, but not considered threatening. Forth was an offensive liability. Being 30 out of 350+ is a pretty good defense, I saw a graphic recently that that's around where we've been the last few years. It makes for an interesting discussion, and I don't think there's a definitive answer.

Parker had one drive middle of the 1H where he didn't have much room but he exploded on a drive on the baseline from just inside the three point line in a blink of an eye. CJ can't do that. However, CJ and Rodney Hood very similar, imo. Smooth, lefties, some range, good athletes but not athletic freaks, etc.

Yeah I mean it's one game, whatever, it's not like it's the deciding factor. 30th is good for defense, but KU pretty much finishes in the top 3 or 5 in defensive efficiency every year.

Yes. Whole package not just points.
We'll have to see how they compare at seasons end.
Melo wasn't just points either. He led us in rebounding at 10 per game (I don't think DC averaged that as a freshman) and was a good passer. It's too early to say one is definitely better.

Parker is one of the most skilled scorers to come around in awhile in terms of the variety of ways in which he can score, but Melo could do a LOT of things as a freshman that Parker hasn't shown in his game yet. And Melo was far quicker despite being about the same size.
