Reminds me quite a bit of a certain Freshman Phenom that suited up for the Orange about a decade ago...
And Melo got robbed when he didn't win national POTY, but that's neither here nor there.I think Jabari Parker is better than Melo was this early in the season.
He's talented enough to be player of the year let alone POY of the ACC.
Fixed.I think Jabari Parker is better than Melo was this early in the season.
He's talented enough to be player of the year let alone runner up to CJ POY of the ACC.
Parker really impressed me as well. I slept through the second half so I guess I missed the Wiggins show. That would have been nice to see. This is what I said in the other thread: "Parker reminds me so much of the Syracuse-era Carmelo. The high socks, his build (solid/kind of doughy, but deceptively agile), the way he handles the ball, etc..."
I'm really impressed with him.
I love CJ, but after what I saw last night, Jabari is one step above him.Fixed.
Melo had 27 and 11 against Memphis in the first game of that season? Was Parker better than that?I think Jabari Parker is better than Melo was this early in the season.

Yes. Whole package not just points.Melo had 27 and 11 against Memphis in the first game of that season? Was Parker better than that?
I'm not familiar enough with this years Duke team to know which guy had to carry more of the load. At that point in our season, we had no clue that GMac and Warrick would be as good on offense as they ended up. Duany was a known steady player, but not considered threatening. Forth was an offensive liability. Being 30 out of 350+ is a pretty good defense, I saw a graphic recently that that's around where we've been the last few years. It makes for an interesting discussion, and I don't think there's a definitive answer.27 and 9 vs Kansas is probably more impressive than 27 and 11 vs the 2003 Memphis, no? Can't find the box, so I don't know how well Melo shot, but Parker was took 18 shots to get his 27 points. Memphis finished the 2003 season with the #30 defense in the country. I think KU will be just a little better than that.
Melo wasn't just points either. He led us in rebounding at 10 per game (I don't think DC averaged that as a freshman) and was a good passer. It's too early to say one is definitely better.Yes. Whole package not just points.
We'll have to see how they compare at seasons end.
Pains me to say anything remotely negative about CJ, but you're right. Jabari is a vicious beast.I love CJ, but after what I saw last night, Jabari is one step above him.
