James Vollono (ST coordinator)

Quick facts

Born: Sep 26, 1967 (57 years), Cherry Hill Township, NJ
College: Bucknell University
Parents: Ed Foley Sr.
Team coached: Temple Owls football (Head coach, 2018–2018)
This would suggest that he played WITH Schiano in college at Bucknell.

This discussion brings to mind an article about the VaTech special teams back when Frank Beamer was head coach, and the Hokie ST play was legendary. Beamer stated that one way he placed an emphasis was to practice ST at the beginning of practice (when the players were fresh and attentive), instead of trying to squeeze it in at the end of practice. He also created a culture where there was a spirited competition for being a member of a special team unit, which included many starters and the best athletes on the team.

We played 10 games after Stanford.
With average points against per game of 30.3. I know Fran isn't going to fire ERob this offseason but I'm thoroughly not impressed so far.

That’s a better argument than pinning it on one game. We don’t say fire Nixon because of the Pitt game.

I guess the numerous reports of him not expecting to be back next season were either premature or wrong.
He’s not coming back. I think Thamel reported it and when the mom of a special teams player wishes him the best on his next adventure then I would say that kinda confirmed it. They haven’t replaced him yet so his name is still listed as ST coach

Contracts I believe go through end of January so nothing wrong at this point. Fran is clearly not going to embarrass the coach by doing a firing and will just not renew. My guess is also Fran has probably already selected his replacement.

And if Vollono already has another job lined up, it can't be announced until his contract expires here.

When removing the pic 6s and special teams scores (punt blocks) etc what is the actual points against?

Yeah, and Thamel gets all of his info from agents, so they’d obviously know.

Figure It Out What GIF by CBC

I used that line around my wife once recently. She said "What about your nephew who was born six weeks premature?"

Suddenly it didn't seem as funny any more.

She must be type to just want to get things done with.

I'm actually not sure what you're saying, a grammar error or typo is making it unclear.

But, I thought the line was as funny as anybody, until it was pointed out somebody might be harmed by the comment, however unintentionally. If I said that in front of my brother and his wife, along with their child... How might they feel about it?

I appreciated her perspective, but of course everyone is free to say whatever they want.

Sense of humor is everything, people lacking a sense of humor im thinking possess a sense of being offended?

My family possesses many life struggles that we all conclude to...thats life.
We are not easily offended which is a huge positive leading to attitudes that enrich our journeys.

We are all absolutely free to say, feel ànd be offended by whatever we want...I choose the sense of humor over offended.

When Syracuse was great at special teams, they had starters and two deep players all over the units. I would prefer we get back to that model.
I thought HCFB was all about having starters on specials.
IMO it depends. 3rd on depth chart doesnt always mean not good enough to play. I volunteered as an assistant for a high school and took on responsibility for STs based an my playing history in HS and College.
Having the ability to point out those players that are say 3rd on depth that have that chip that brings that intensity and dog is key. That attitude that makes those few plays they get stand out and sometimes just ruthless. Starters dont always display that dog on STs.
I would get so jacked playing STs as an underclassmen & still to this day. I would not be surprised if i have a heart attack during an SU kickoff during the cfp championship.

Would love to find our J R Johnsons again.
