Have to disagree on that.May have been the least informative piece I have ever read. Only thing I learned was a restaurant I hadn't heard of and a street.
Have to disagree on that.
As a genral intetrest article - for people who don't religiously follow the Orange - it's pretty good.
The only major points he didn't mention are Boeheim taking the reins at such a young age and the Mike Hopkins tale.
It was a little odd to end on a quote from Tyus Battle that comes out of the blue.
When I observed practices from time to time, in Manley, that was how practice was then. Two parts raised an eyebrow for me:
"If they win, it's a great dinner," Adam Weitsman, Boeheim's best friend and a program booster who oftens [sic] tags along, said."
"Boeheim has increasingly delegated to his assistants, so Autry and other staffers are the most active voices in practice. For most of this session, Boeheim walked the sideline, observing. He didn't say much until he stopped practice because he didn't like the energy from some of his players."
Been mentioned here a million times. Also just about how all the big guys run.Two parts raised an eyebrow for me:

YupI get the sense Jim is curating his final season. That article felt odd to me. I'm missing something completely. Zero mention of Gerry really, etc.
Terribly written but I get the sense there's more to it than the article...

I didn't realize they were besties. That makes me nervous for reasons totally unrelated to worries about "boosters" and NCAA violations.Nothing surprising. Why would it raise an eyebrow that JB and Weitsman have dinners together?
He has a national title, something only 12 programs have earned since 2001“—what the heck is that? Did he start coaching in 2001? What kind of contrived metric is this?

Yeah, because his kids need scholarships.Nervous. Like Adam has a few 5’7” sons that will soon be on scholarship?

I mean there’s been articles about he and Adam for almost a decade. Were you living under a rock?I didn't realize they were besties. That makes me nervous for reasons totally unrelated to worries about "boosters" and NCAA violations.
My reading of the tea leaves is that with the timing of Weitsman announcing his NIL intentions, JB's retirement will be based upon whether SU can secure some 5* recruits and go out with a bang. If this can be done with 2023 recruits, then JB will be here 2 more seasons (including the 2022-23 season). If that cannot be done until the 2024 recruits, then JB will be here 3 more seasons. If JB cannot secure a title with blue chip guys, then he hangs up his hat (you know the hat)JB will not coach forever. If they are best friends, will his support of the program leave as well?
Nothing would make me happier than Adam getting us a 2023 5-star, but I just don't see that happening in this late stage given who's left on the board. I hope I'm wrong. On the other hand, Adam wants his bff JB to go out with a bang and knows the clock is ticking, and I'm sure JB told Adam they're close to being a contender in 2023. Of course it's possible something unexpected happens given the large sum of money at stake, such as a top recruit decommitting and becoming available. My reading of the tea leaves is that with the timing of Weitsman announcing his NIL intentions, JB's retirement will be based upon whether SU can secure some 5* recruits and go out with a bang.
