JB article on ESPN

If Boeheim wants to linger to get the program in a good place I feel like they are chasing a unicorn at this point. I cannot imagine he has the energy at this point to do that in a way that is keeping up with the more energetic HCs out there. It would make a ton more sense if he officially named his successor and they let him coach as the HC Emeritus.

I'm guessing Wildhack is not liking how this is all finalizing. Puts him in an impossible position to select the right guy for the program that he wants vs what Adam/Boeheim want and their preferred timing.

Yuck.

I generally don't read articles about who coaches are friends with. If that makes me a casual fan, I'm fine with that.
I didn't say that, but syracuse.com has covered their relationship over the years.

I tend to believe this is JB's last year and because of the relationship with Adam. I think it's all but certain Autry is the next coach.

SU is not going to get a 2023 five star. The top players have been involved with players for a long time. The only five star I’ve seen SU mentioned with his Wagner and he’s not coming to SU. They do have some options for 2024.

The program like the article is stale. No matter how much money Adam throws at the program it will remain stale until a change is made.

Ok then how about since he started coaching at Syracuse he’s one of thirty coaches who have won a title. Out of all the coaches in that timespan.

I dunno. Seems good imo.
That would make sense. The objection wasn’t to the number, it was to the contrivance of arbitrarily selecting 2001. No different from magnifying his accomplishment by saying ‘in 2003 he was the only coach to win a NC.’

Either way, your ‘stat’ doesn’t impress. If you consider his span, and that we’re supposed to be one of the top ten programs, historically, then how many would you expect us to have? Not less than one, sooo….

Well, I mean that span is almost fifty years….and certainly more goes into the calculus of what a “top ten” program is than number of titles. Florida has two, but pre Billy Donovan was nothing impressive save for a few years under Lon Kruger. Same with Villanova. Between 1985 and 2016 was the Steve Lappas era. I’d think that would drag on the rating of their program.

Everyone knows the last time Indiana last won it all. They’ve more or less been garbage for twenty years. Still top ten?

At any rate by my count there are ten programs in that span with more than one title:

Kansas
Nova
UNC
Duke
Uconn
Louisville
Kentucky
Florida
Michigan State
Indiana

I mean, if you want to slate us at eleven I’d have no issue with that.

JB article on ESPN? Sounds like Coach wrote an article about ESPN. Now THAT would be worth a read.

No. JB doesn’t have anything to do with football and Adam is supporting them too.

Rick, you're making assumptions on that. Adam may glad hand Jim with all these overtures but the funding may be out of love to Jim Boeheim.

Adam basically came out of the clouds and became a major booster of the school due to his friendship with the HC not because he was some old time Syracuse guy.

I hope you're right but i'll be shocked if Weitsman sticks around in perpetuity to fund SU sports, especially football

He’s friends with Autry and Griff as well. You don’t have a great read on this situation at all.
