JB is hammering the team in this PC

You are trying way to hard to take a debate and anecdotes model them in a quantitative way. A disagreement over opinions need not be reverse engineered to identify the flaws. It is what it is :)

I disagree. By showing him the flaws in his argument there is a chance this poster will change their ways. It was a well thought out post.

One can claim that JB's presser rant was honest/valid. And, plainly, is just as likely that JB's comments to Welsh are valid. No one is throwing out anything or pretending something wasn't said.
Further, if you really, truly think JB was just "telling it like it is" during his PC yesterday, you haven't watched/listened to him very closely over the years.
Have fun with your continued analysis, though.

When flaws are founded on items that are not constants to begin with.. they are not really flaws. They are simply different interpretations. Trying to extrapolate a right/wrong out of this using a quantiative approach is overkill and unnecessary. If we were talking "actual" data points that were truths vs opinions then maybe there is good reason. In this instance it is a disagreement and that is it. I appreciate the passionate effort to disprove but it really isn't applicable here.

Ok I can agree with that. I guess I just appreciate the effort more than the nah nah boo boo response.

The effort in quoting wikipedia and getting a thesaurus out?

They are a solid team, but they aren't an NCAA tournament team. They didn't schedule like an NCAA torunament wanna be team. They are 5th best team we have played this year behind Iowa, Cal, St. John's, and Holy Cross.
If they win CUSA they will be a 12-13 seed, that you probably don't want to play, but I agree it is not going to be listed as a quality win.

Which underscores how bad a schedule La. Tech has played. HC is almost 100 points higher in the RPI.

I don't think HC is that great a team, but they will be perceived as a better RPI win. La. Tech may have a good team, but their schedule has no good wins.

Hard to argue, but La Tech beats Holy Cross by 20.

Good for coach. Sometimes I wonder if these kids were ever coached in HS. Their basic fundamentals are really bad. Most of these kids turnovers are because they never look at the basket. It doesn't mean you have to shoot, but you have to look at the basket or teams will just play your pass. This is part of KJ's biggest problem. All of our young players, including Silent G, are having trouble making simple passes because they aren't looking at the basket. Just bring the ball to your face and you open up passing lanes. Keep the ball low, and the defensive player is going to keep his hands down to tip or knock away your pass. Louisville, Duke, or any pressure team is going to give this team fits. You tell kids in elementary school to catch the ball with TWO HANDS. EVERY SINGLE TIME. I'd be ticked off if I was coach too. We'll know in one week if they are coachable or a bunch of knuckleheads!

Maybe their coaching in HS was bad, but they should still be working on fundamentals in practice at SU, right? Maybe JB has started focusing too much on running the 2-3 to perfection that his offenses are really starting to struggle. IDK, it's just something I 've been thinking about recently.

I've seen jb rip players in a press conference to motivate them, but I don't think I've ever seen him do it out of exasperation.

He is seriously concerned that this team won't be "competitive" in the acc. Like bottom third of the league bad.

I know he's prone to exaggeration, but I don't think he's kidding. That was a very sobering press conference.
Damn. 1968-69. 9-16...not a losing record since

Woodstock and the moon landing are younger than an SU losing season by a few months. Crazy.

What's their big win this year? Samford? Northwestern State? Sorry, they lost to a crap Temple team and a crap Louisiana Layfayette team too.

I'm not going to call a team good just because we played them. Sorry, Carlton isn't an NCAA title contender either, they'd be at the bottom half of the AAC or Big East if they were here. Every time we play somebody and win no matter how garbage the team is there are people coming around here trying to justify how good the team is or use it as reference on how good we are.

You were probably one of the ones who tried to tell us all year how bad Cleveland St. was in 2009. La Tech wins C-USA and one NCAA tourney game.

I respect your opinion, but La. Tech is not an NCAA tournament team. It was a win to stop the bleeding, but nothing more. If we won more convincingly maybe it would be perceived differently. La. Tech is a middle of the pack CUSA team in a league that has been 1 bid for the few past years. Loooking at their schedule they haven't beaten anyone of consequence and lost @Temple and at home to a bad Louisiana-Lafayette team.

I'll bet a 6 pack of your beer of choice they will win the C-USA tourney.

This needs to happen more often. Too many times people make correct or incorrect proclamations and it goes ignored. This board would be even better if we focused on who was right rather than who is the most popular.

yes, I agree. If we would just run every post through one of these, much time and angst could be spared:

I almost bumped the one where a guy called me an idiot because I said Smart would be drafted higher than Ennis. lol

It's a message board. If anyone takes themselves so seriously they can't admit their predictions are occasionally wrong, they take themselves too seriously imho. Heck, I'm wrong twice each day before I even get out of bed.
