The flip side to this, is if Cooney doesn't bring his defender close enough to the defender for the pick to work, then guys like BMK might try to readjust their base and end up getting called for a moving screen. Takes two to set a proper screen. And then you need to figure out what to do once the defender recognizes the play and works to avoid the screen altogether.

Syracuse guards are awful at using screens. I've never seen high-level players more fundamentally unsound.

Part of getting open for 3 point shots is your teammates setting good screens but the other part is moving without the ball. Buddy does not move well without the ball as he is not as athletic as the defender guarding him. I have said it many times but JB is not balancing the coach/father thing well. It's like watching a dad coach his son in a 5th grade CYO league the favoritism he displays.

When coach says “we” don’t get him open looks doesn’t it really mean HE doesn’t get him open looks ?

It’s either scheme , talent , or coaching that is the source of this transgression ... so yeah
