I did not understand one small portion of that piece.
When speaking to converted point guards, was JAB/Katz calling .Howard a converted point guard or a "real" point guard?
I think JAB was calling him a real point guard, although, going back to high school, Frank was more of a forward.

Not that it matters ... Frank is going to be a big part of this team. And he's going to make a few jumpers along the way too.

He was saying Frank is a real PG. He was a pass first distributor with really nice vision so I'm ok with going along with that title even if he was a forward in HS.

From Junior to Senior year, he went SG to more of a combo and point, brought up the ball plenty, distributed the ball plenty - not sure where the forward talk is coming from. VJ King was always a forward, never heard or thought the Howard was.

Per Katz, Boeheim on the team... "We've got everything - we've got depth, we've got shooters, we've got size. This is the best team we've had in a long time."

Tiny bit confusing in how katz frames the piece. Katz first states they added two shooters, Gillon and White. Then says JB early in the summer said they were decent, but couldnt hit shots (and i assume Gillon was there at that time). Then they added one guy, White. And then goes on to say JB says they have shooters, plural. Again not well framed by katz, but hes the same clown who set up JSuth during warmups at ucon years ago

Colleges have gone from recruiting four year players to one year players. This year SU will have 3 one year players on the team (and 1 two-year player who may be best player on the team). That's not quite Kentucky, but it rivals everyone else. We should be pretty good.

My guess is that the one year graduate student transfer policy will change soon. Until then, it's a great way for P5's to raid mid majors for players who developed late, have maturity, and want a higher profile for possibly getting drafted or connecting with an international team. Syracuse has been as successful as any P5 in utilizing graduate transfers this year. It will be a tougher market next year.

Thanks, JB. The Final Four or Bust crew just decided that nothing less than a national championship will be acceptable.

Interesting to hear JB's comments starting this season. He seems to have always been "We're not that good yet and need a lot of work. If we can do this and do that then we may be competitive".

Are we sure this is the real JB? Has anyone checked his markings?

I saw Frank play a few games in high school, but he was never a forward for them. They did run a few three guard sets and he would swing to the wing for that but that's about it.

That's all I'm saying :)

So, with all that depth, I guess JB figures he'll go with a deep 7 man rotation vs. a short 6. ;);):)

Maybe so. I wonder what JB is expecting from Pascal Chukwu? He is the biggest unknown to fans.

If Chukwu can provide enough offense to stay on the court for long stretches, it is easy to see how JB could shrink to a 7 man rotation (with nominal minutes for DC2 and Thompson).

He is the biggest wildcard, I honestly don't know much about him. I would think he gets some run against the bigger teams we play. I love having a shot blocker, they don't come around too often.

JB has been on record in the past saying PC could lead the nation in blocks. I don't think his offense will matter a lick in how much PT he gets.
