JB's Postgame Presser | IUP

JB: “You’re gonna have more turnovers when you play 10,11 guys. It’s just what happens.”

Board: 4.5 man rotation, confirmed
JB: "You know every game you're going to get into a rhythm of 5 or 6 guys at some point in time. That's college basketball. This isn't the NBA...6 or 7 guys is what everybody plays. Nobody seems to understand that in Syracuse, but it's...the truth. You don't like the truth sometimes."

Couple of comments from this presser:

  1. Benny Needs to Rebound better
  2. Jesse needs to play for the team and not worry about showcasing for the NBA
  3. Just about all college bball plays 6-7 guys no matter what SU fans say. (this one was hidden gem)
  4. Symir is the odd man out. ==>This was interesting and subtle.

We will see our rotation be 6-7 and Benny and the Jess need to rebound.

Did he say anything positive?

When he mentioned Benny’s rebounding he was talking about the first couple minutes when he got pushed out of the way by a smaller kid. Overall he was complimentary about his rebounding.

I didn’t hear him say Jesse was showcasing for the nba and not playing for the team,

As much as i complain about JB listening to him tonight it hit home for me how much im going to miss him. He really is brilliant and regardless of who our next coach is things will never be the same. Very few schools ever get to experience what we have. I hope this is a great year for him and the team.

I get it, but thought he was fine here and gave a ton of insight.
I've seen Boeheim be amiable many times, and sometimes even jocular. (4 or 5 times since 1969) I've just seen too many cringe worthy pressers and interviews to handle it anymore.

There are a few things I cannot abide. Every time I hear Boeheim talking to the press, I cringe. I have defended Boeheim for years and have the greatest respect for him as a coach. But personality wise, I just can't go there.

Okay, we get it, but we're telling you the press conference is fine. So watch it or don't, but it's not up to people here to transcribe it for you because you're too delicate to watch it.

You: I don't like chili. Sometimes it's spicy.

Yes, but this chili isn't. It's mild.

You: Yes, but sometimes it's spicy. I cannot abide spicy chili.

We understand. Chili can be spicy. But you don't have to worry about that here.

You: I've just had too many spicy chilis to handle it anymore.

OKAY! You've made your point. We've all registered your performative cringe. Please stop hanging out at the chili restaurant.

When he wins everyone loves him. When he loses, he is the worst coach in the country. I used to fight with Igor all the time over Boeheim. What was that, thirty years ago? Whatever else anyone wants to say, Boeheim made SU basketball. The thing I think is tops in his resume is that during his career he's beaten just about every major basketball program in the country at least once using a "tavern league" defense.

If Red gets the job, you will go to sleep, (during the presser), dreaming of when JB was at the mike.
