So instead of like 2 years ago when it seemed like almost every game was like a brain draining experience on a trip back to Division 2 football , we now have moments of yes we are somehow in this game on the road and might actually be able to pull it off despite ourselves.
Yes we have some brain drainine experiences where Mr Hyde shows up , like Butler not lined up on the line of scrimmage , or Dungey semmingly running a different play than everyone else on the fourth down , or the almost logic defying breakdown of Cole Murphy from a very competent kicker to one who maybe shouldn't see the field again
Yes the coaching decisions have shown some Dr Hyde qualities like the back to back running plays near the 10 yard line in the third quarter when Dungey and Steve specifically were shredding them just perplexed me.
Yet despite the issues that in the past may have lead to total embarrassing losses along the lines of Georgia Tech or other national TV embarrassing situations we have seen moments of not only respectable football but football that indicates we are capable of playing and coaching with anybody. The interview with Babers at halftime and the intense fire he showed and the way they came out and played in that quarter showed me that this coach gets it and his team gets him.
I wish we would have won both of these last two games and I don't believe in moral victories. I would also not be shocked if we still had another oh we lost to these guys games this year but, I just as easily could see a holy we actually beat these guys game coming up.
We have gone from first snap to last snap ineptitude in the last era , to moments of head shaking calls and poor descions to in the same game to saying bring on anybody we can play with them in the same game.
The transformation is happening to a respectable program again. This year was going to be a tough slog for this young team anyway. We are on our way back I think for real this time. I just think we are going to see alot of Mr, Hyde mixed in with our Dr Jekyll and while I won't be happy with it, I'm saying and seeing growth as a football team and right now I can live with it
