I mean Lin isnt great as a defender but the Knicks can hide him somewhat with Chandler behind him and putting Shumpert on the best guard the other team has.

It will all be revealed Friday night. If he works well with Melo, the Knicks will have solved the guard problem without having to spend a dime. Chris Paul is making $16.4 m and Lin $0.76. What a deal.

With Anthony, Stoudemire and Chandler up front and Lin and Shumpert at guard, along with a proven bench, they may now have the line-up to go all the way. Friday will tell us a lot. Exciting times ahead if it gels.

I could be wrong on this, but wasn't Flip Murray (Sonics) a similar story like a decade or so ago? Came in as a nobody, dropped a lot of 20 point games out of nowhere, then sort of had an okay existence in the NBA, but nothing special?

All the nba clowns who suggest Melo and Lin won't work well together prove they have no real knowledge of Melo. We won a national championship and Melo shared the ball with 2 Point Guards in Gmac and Billy. At the end of the year Billy was playing more in the backcout then Duany and Billy had the ball in his hands most of the time. Melo avg 17 shots Gmac 10 Hak 10 Duany 8 Billy 7 so less then 1/3 of the shots were taken by Melo and thats not counting the shots by forth, mcneil, pace. Melo is more effective when he has a point guard like Billy who could get in the lane at will and either score or pass.

He's listed at 6'3" 200 lbs. Plenty big enough for an NBA point guard.

Put me in the camp of thinking Melo will adjust and still fill it up.

And since this is a Knicks themed thread, let me just throw out two Melo/Knicks related thoughts:

1. Props to Melo (and I believe Baron Davis as well) for attending the funeral of Amare's brother down in Florida. Those are the type of things that great teammates and great people do. Classy move.
2. How great are Knicks fans? Every second that Isaiah Thomas of the Kings touched the ball last night, he was greeted to resounding boo's from the Garden crown. Even he had to get a kick out of that.

If they can mesh, I agree with you. Lin/Fields/Melo/Amare/Chandler. Shumpert/Novak/JJ. Possibly getting Baron Davis as the backup pg at some point...Could be special!!!! This team's defense is insanely improved as well.

For the record, I think they are going to mesh beautifully.

I will say I'm tired of the Tebow comparisons. Lin is, pretty much, single-handedly winning games for the Knicks. Tebow can barely trow for over 100 yards, a game.
