Kelvin Sampson bemoans Houston NIL budget: 'We're poor'

Houston coach Kelvin Sampson said his top-10 team can't sign more recruits because the school's athletic department is "very poor."

Interesting comments from Sampson … especially considering what that program has been the past decade.

Yeah, my first reaction was “cry me a river”, but I guess we’ll see in the upcoming years if these public comments help increase NIL funding for Houston or, if Houston is poor and declines, he can say he put out this warning.

I’ve been ringing this bell for a year now, there is no freaking way this NIL money keeps coming in. People aren’t going to pay a million dollars or more every year when they get no direct return out of it. I understand there is some emotional value but those who can afford to spend without a direct ROI will be very few and cannot possibly support 64 P5 level programs
