Jerry Kill's Pre Game Speech before our game

That's the thing about a tough OOC, what if you beat USC and then lose to Minny...you've lost everything you just gained. It just seems to me that the full grind of every week being a battle takes a toll on this team mentally and physically...there is no doubt in my mind this team was beat up for the last 5 games. Yes, I understand a lot of teams are but playing good teams every week and not being able to sub as freely on a team with little depth is a difficult task and a constant uphill battle. The Big 12 OOC schedules are a complete joke and guess what, almost all the teams got a vote for the Top 25. People or let me say the experts do not parse into college footballs schedules the way they do for basketball, no one and I mean absolutely no one mentions teams not leaving their state for football and playing a lot of home games.

Back to the topic, I don't understand why anyone on this board would come away impressed with that pre-game speech. About the most you can say for it is that he had his team's attention. Any coach ought to have his team's attention in that situation. He didn't fire them up and he didn't say anything that should have fired them up. Watch coaches who are actually good at it and its light years better than Jerry Kill. Nick Saban, John Gruden, Urban Meyer, heck even Lane Kiffin. Those are a few names, I would say literally 75% of coaches in D-1 football give way better pre-game speeches.
By contrast, I remember the speech Nick Saban gave to a group of kids that came in for a camp and their parents. That wasn't even a fire them up speech pre-game. It was an intro to camp speech about what he expected of the kids in camp so kids and parents would understand. Search on Youtube for Nick Saban's 2011 Football Camp and you'll see what I mean. Also commanded respect, but much more inspiring.
