JG3…

I thought Cooney was pretty good considering he was our only outside threat.
He was, but he certainly wasn't efficient with his off the ball movement. I don't remember him getting much help though in the way of screens and ball rotations to match his movement. We used to run lots of off ball screens and double screens to get our shooters open looks. My recollection is that died out sometime in the early 2010s, about the same time most of our offensive creativity disappeared. So, TC was left to his own devices to get open, which resulted in many laps around the halfcourt.

I guarantee you on the reasons why JJ didn’t pick us, comments on the Syracusefan.com message board about Joe Girard clock in at last
The way SU fans treat local players, on the whole, is abysmal.

What’s a “local” player? Howard Triche was a local player. GMAC played his prep ball almost as close to the Dome as JGIII did.

All the players are treated the same. Praise, criticism isn't based on their hometown .

The comment was about how the fans treat local players.

How we treat our own SU players is a different concept because there are actually “local” players that grew up and played their prep ball in the same local community that the fans that may be criticizing them live in.

Absolutely, not comparing Cooney to Steph, but at the college level Trev was nonstop running around, it’s not like it can’t be done here.
Cooooon doooog

Guess I didn’t make my point very well and you missed it. Joe, if you’re talking JGIII, is no more local than GMAC. And I assume you wouldn’t consider GMAC “local”.

Brandon Triche. Dayshaun Wright. Josh Wright.

If Joe is local, then John Wallace and Tony Scott definitely are. Craig Forth. And I’d say Damone Brown, Jonny Flynn, and Paul Harris are too.

Also, our halcyon days were when the roster was almost all Niagara Falls, Philly, and BMore kids. I miss it so much.
