Jim Boeheim's Thoughts on the Penn State Scandal

Sounds like a bit of an apologist in the 2nd paragraph. "This doesn't have any effect on what he did for 46 years."

Sorry, Coach. But it does.

Couldn't agree more. But he's coming at it from a little different perspective than us being a coach himself. Yeah I disagreed with some of what he said, but I thought his perspective was interesting and I didn't see it reported out there so I thought it was worth sharing.

Great read thanks! I heard many comparisons from our boards that this would be like SU losing Boeheim. It's interesting to read his perspective..

Didn't like that article at all. JB seems to want to lash out at everyone, the media, the BOT, etc. He is definitely in the support Paterno mode with all the praise he brings up. Just think JB is in that coaching circle defense mode too. You're wrong JB. It no longer matter what good Paterno did in his life. He could have cured cancer, his actions and what he allowed for 15 years wipes all the good off the board.

JB has kids. If this happened at his local school to one of his kids he'd be outraged. I hate to bring someone's kids into an argument but just using it as an analogy. Not trying to be an @sshole.

Agreed. They are members of a small fraternity, and sometimes, I guess, that can put the blinders on you.

Boeheim hit on something though: what is being done for the victims.

Would love to see a campaign set up on this site for the PSU victims. And, to add to the cliche, it would be more than PSU has done to date to help them.

Very good post.

Bees I agree with you. I was surprised at his "coach defense" mode he seemed to be in. But even though I disagreed with him, I still thought it was worth putting out there. I thought fans would be interested in hearing his perspective.

what is boeheim going to do. trash paterno? come on.

say nothing then. he spends too much time ripping everyone else except for the guy that allowed tens of kids to be raped.

Oh, definitely worth putting out there. JB has ALWAYS been one to tear into the media and defend a coach to the hilt. This is just one time where he probably should have just said nothing except about the victims like he did.

Every year when boeheim speaks all I can think is if he weren't our coach we would hate his ever lovin guts. With a passion

I totally expected JB to take that position.

Disappointing, but expected.

Oh yeah, I've always said that if I didn't love SU, I'd hate SU. That's mostly on JB.

Jb should just shut his trap, he's becoming a rambling old dude too. Look he is a basketball coach, but from reading this article, it's clear he lacks perspective past the coaching angle and basically sounds like a moron. Sorry but if you took his name off the article, I would say who is this idiot?

Allowing rape in the house that Joe pa built won't tarnish his image? Are you kidding me

Last year was the first year whenever he had his pressers I would always think "just ". Hahaha

Very, very disappointing. On so many levels. JB just went down a notch in my estimation.

I agree with the thoughts that we should lend support. It seems financially they will be set. But maybe invite them up for a game and tailgate paid for by our board and give them the VIP treatment.

His initial comments about helping the victims was excellent. He should have left it at that.

Unfortunate comments from JB. Kinda missed the point of the scandal.

When discussing the Baylor murder coverup by David Bliss, on TV with K and that paragon of virtue, Kelvin Sampson, JB criticized the assistant coach for secretly taping Bliss!!! JB also has some value issues.
