One time I was in LA and I ran into Kate upton at a bar. Had a drink or two, one thing led to another and she begged me to take her home. I said nah.
Ha!until he whipped out his saxaphone and serenaded you.
I was on a flight once and was bummed that I had the middle seat, until I realized I was sitting between Mother Teresa and Kurt Cobain.
Sr. or Jr.?My parents were once Sammy Davis' guest for dinner.
That's all I got.
I once got Danny Shayes autograph on a plane.
This is becoming a "whose is bigger" thread. Oh Lord
I assumed these stories were all true until this one.I was once on a flight that not only wasn't delayed, but actually arrived 10 minutes EARLY! Eat your hearts out.
I'll see your Telly Savalas and raise you with a Hugh Hefner. I was standing outside a steak place on Hollywood Blvd one night. Maitre d told me they only had one table available and it was next to the restroom door. I took it as I was hungry. I notice the table across the aisle is full of beautiful blondes, about 10 of them. All sitting around a table with one old guy. Yep, it was Hef. Apparently they were celebrating his birthday. During the course of the evening I went to take a leak and shortly after someone stands at the urinal next to me. Out of the corner of my eye I see its Hef. In my mind I actually thought 'Holy S, I'm taking a leak next to Hugh Fn Hefner!" After I finish my business I turn around and there is a very large man in a black suit standing in the middle of the rest room with a little gold bunny ear lapel pin. We give a nod and proceed to wash my hands and then return to my table. On his way out Hef actually looked at me and said "Hi how are you?" I think I said something like pretty good how about you and he just smiled and returned to his table. Needless to say I was not going anywhere until Hef and the girls left. It was actually quite fun as this place had a mechanical bull and Hef's friends were taking their turns. As I said, I was not going anywhere. I kept hoping my good behavior in the restroom would earn me an invitation to join them or back to the mansion but alas I was just getting buzzed and day dreaming.Reminds me of the time I was at Tony Roma's on Universal Dr and I took a leak at a urinal next to Telly Savalas. Found out from a bar tender that he actually lived there.

Which reminds me of the time I shared a flight with Sherman Douglas after his rookie season in the NBA. We were flying from Baltimore to Syracuse as I think he was taking some classes. After we got our luggage I saw him sitting on the curb outside the terminal waiting for his ride. I asked him if I could give him a lift but he said he was all set.
I've met many former athletes, and hands down the nicest guy was John Unitas. As I mentioned in the http://syracusefan.com/threads/where-in-the-world-is-jimmy-boeheim-iago.89626/
I'm a skycap at the Syracuse Hancock airport. Jim, Julie and the kids flew out on Easter Sunday. Unfortunately it was just before my shift started so I didn't get to help them with their many bags from the curb and check them in and get their boarding passes and such but a fellow skycap of mine did.
Well today they returned home during my shift around 3:00 or so off the American Chicago flight. I was immediately saw Julie at baggage claim and a fellow Skycap of my radio me that Coach Boeheim and family came off the American Chicago flight so keep a lookout in baggage claim. I was nervous to approach Julie but another fellow skycap an old timer on the job brought me over and introduced me and offered my services which she thankfully accepted. Let me tell you something Julie is an absolute sweetheart as I'm sure many here know already. I helped her with the 6 bags and waited for the bags to come around the carousel and load them onto my cart. She asked me how long i had been here I told her about almost 2 months told her I was a recent college grad starting out trying to get some money for an apartment, she asked what i wanted to go into and if i liked the job. Again an absolute sweetheart this woman is.
Finally got all the bags, She told me to follow the kids out and Jim's outside with the car. I get out of the terminal and there is Coach Boeheim waiting with the back trunk of their SUV open. I'm literally star struck and remain so to this moment. He immediately hands me a #20 dollar bill for a tip, and I load the luggage into the back of the SUV. I asked him how was Miami he said wonderful I knew they went to Miami when they flew out and Julie told me they had a friend i believe with a house down there she said and they had gone down since the kids were on spring break. He wasn't intimidating or any other public perception of him may be. Yes, doesn't have the personality Julie has. But he was fine. I wanted to shake his hand before i left but got a call on the radio and he was fixing the luggage around in the back of the car. Julie thanked me again and said hope to see you again in the future. Again an absolute sweetheart this woman is.
It was a really cool thing. In the 2 months almost i have been working at the airport saw Mike Hopkins at the gate area waiting for his flight to Charlotte we exchanged hi very nice, and Adrian Autry in the terminal getting checked in for his flight to Washington DC.
Again just a really cool thing.
my brother said the same thingI've met many former athletes, and hands down the nicest guy was John Unitas.
The next time syracuse.com has an opening one of their "creepy stalker reporter" positions, you really should apply. Perhaps you can even use Poliquin as a reference.Met and shook the hand of bud poliquin today. As he and his wife flying out on US AIR.
They had just got dropped and I was coming out of the terminal back to the curb after doing a previous bag job so i didn't get to offer my services in time.
Said how are you doing today Mr. Poliquin he said fine thank you with a smile and shook my hand.
I told my fellow skycap on the curb that is Bud Poliquin writer for the syracuse post standard and he said and I quote "Who cares". Lol.
