Wow GIF

CSU used to be a decent program a long time ago and a good job overall. But it has killed some name coaches lately. I think this says...

CSU has money to invest. It is a long way up to win that conference from where they are now. A HC with experience wouldn't touch it otherwise.

Mora's job prospects were not very good. A more favorable situation or a P4 wasn't coming.

CSU is apparently a step up from UConn.
-I guess there is no P4 offer on the horizon. Remember when he was telling recruits they were getting one soon?
-money must not be there to keep him nor for NIL. Not being in a conference likely hurts their rev share.
-it must be a major pain to schedule and recruit there. He was just 3 plays away from an undefeated season and it still wasn't enough to stay.
-the roster must not be very good next year. If it were he could in theory stay for a better job. I bet the cupboard is bare and he is getting out while he can. Otherwise he could have leveraged his contract and stayed.
-at least at CSU you can make the playoffs as the 5th conference champ. Or maybe 6th with an expanded field. UConn would need to be Top 15 to even sniff the playoffs.

I think this is a huge blow for UConn. That is a very hard job.

Uconn has a tiny NIL budget for football. Rev share goes to the basketball programs. Anywhere else would be better.

I wonder if he preferred this job over a better one. Or he really wasn’t getting something else without waiting a while. He didn’t want to take chance? Very curious. He’s a west coast guy and I’m sure wanted to get back that way.

They’re going to have to keep cycling through young coaches or retreads. Honestly I’d hire guys who have done well at the FCS ranks well but have been passed over.

I think FCS is the way to go for them. No OC/DC will want to take that job over another HCing job. No current FBS HC would either.

Hope we raid their coffers. Too bad Fagnano does not have an eighth year of eligibility lol

Flood might be a good name for UConn. I don't think other programs are looking to hire him. Someone needs to be the sacrificial lamb for Texas missing the playoffs, assuming Sark stays. He can get out first and go back Northeast.

If anyone didn't realize how bad of financial straits UConn is in here is your definitive proof. They don't lose Mora to Colorado they just lost him to Colorado Freekin State. This is like SU losing a coach to Buffalo or Army. Brutal stuff for Uconn, they are screwed.

Wow what a huge blow to UConn, just as they were getting going. I ALMOST feel bad
Colorado State will be in the new PAC. Plus, he is closer to his home. I think he might have been waiting on Colorado to move on from Deion, but decided that this was as good as it would get for now.

I cannot believe Fagnano had a season 28 touchdowns and one interception. We cannot even find a backup who can get ONE TD (in a drive longer than 15 yards) in the first 3 quarters of SEVEN games... then again, we only start QBs that are willing to turn the ball over as much as possible.

yup. they put almost ALL their money into women's and men's basketball. They got lucky with Mora and they have to keep hitting on retreads like that or really young hungry coaches who move on in another two years.

Do they have any recruits worth taking?
They must have some good current players on their roster with eligibility left. Their QB is like 30 years old so no go there. Not sure about their stud WR but we have much bigger priorities. I mean, they beat multiple P4 teams and should have beaten us too, they have talent
